Is Dez mature enough for a new contract?

What about Dez is anywhere near similar to TO, Moss or Ocho?

Who in the locker room has complained about Dez? What trouble has Dez gotten in off the field? What endzone antics has Dez engaged in? We have a top notch receiver that is actually happy when teammates score as opposed to getting angry and demanding the ball be forced to him and we punished him.

Not his talent level.

I must say he has come along way..this is decision time. Do you give him the keys to the ranch?

Multi million dollar question.....sometime i think this is a silly question and then again sometimes i'm not sure.

I got no problem with his maturity level or behavior off the field.

What concerns me is him being a non factor the last 2 weeks................I know Peterson is the best in the league, but the Skins were owning him with a rookie..........the times he did he get open, he dropped the ball, especially in the endzone.

Broaddus said that he talked to Irvin about Dez and that Irvin said the problem is Dez is not winning the battle when CBs get up on him at the line and jam him. Irvin said Dez has to beat the first guy off the line and then the safety cant cover him one on one. The last 2 weeks, Dez has lost the battle at the line and is carrying the CB with him right into the safety.

This type of talk concerns me when you are talking top 3 money...........................maybe we can hire Irvin to teach Dez how to get off the jam better, that appears to be the only weakness Dez has. Problem is that the blueprint is out there on how you play Dez, just like the blueprint is out there on how to play Romo. Thus, teams are going to blitz the hell out of Romo and jam Dez at the line with a safety over the top of him.

if Dallas doesn't think he is, there are likely 31 other teams that will think he is.

And this, is all that matters.

You think he is sweating bullets? He will get his money, 1 way or another. If it's by another team. I guess we have Williams, Beasley, an Aging witten and Harris to look forward to. Can't wait to see the Zone on game days like that.

I think there has to be a limit, I have no idea what that limit is at this point. Honestly, I rather have a awesome OL and DL and be able to keep them intact. So I guess I'd pay Dez maybe top 7 money and hope he gives a little, same with Murray. The maturity thing is past tense.

Dez is a game changer, and his perceived lack of maturity is nonsensical...it is a non-issue

the real question is if you need a top paid WR to get to the SB....to that I say "there is little evidence to prove that"

my personal choice is to keep the guy wearing the star....

I literally wanna barf every time I hear anything questioning Dez's maturity. Leave the man alone... he's been staying out of trouble, he's proven he's a team player and a leader, he's arguably our best player and a top 3 WR in this league, he's loyal and dedicated to the Cowboys franchise... he's certainly done more than enough to earn a new contract here. I swear the way people talk about Dez you'd think he's a murderer. I may be wrong (don't think so), but hasn't he never actually done anything illegal? People always say he has an "attitude" (aka a passion for the sport he plays for a living)... it's all ridiculous in my opinion, no offense.

LOL, I'm a newbie, I cant like, but LIKE LIKE LIKE

Honestly with his play this year he hasnt earned it.

I think he is mature eniugh to handle the money. I dont think he will be in any legal issues.

I am just starting to question if he is really a top 5 receiver or if he is more around the 7-10 mark.

This. I don't think maturity is the issue anymore.

There are not 31 other teams that would be interested in giving any player a max contract for their position. There'd likely be a handful of serious teams just like for any really good player.

Rappaport just reported on NFLN that his maturity and self-control issues off the field are precisely what the Cowboys are having a problem with.

Reports this morning that the police have been called to Dez' house six times in the past three years. Cowboys want some protection in the contract. They're scared of a long term deal.

Although I don't think we should give him the top 3 WR money that he may want, it's interesting how this board quickly forgets how clutch he has been in winning games for us.

There are games where he does not put up the gawdy stats, but how many times has he come up clutch on 3rd and long situations on a game winning drive? Giant's last year IN the Meadowlands after he suffered multiple drops, and the Giants were on a roll by winning 5 in a row to redeem their season TWICE? How about the clutch catches in both Commanders game in 2011 in the 4th quarter/OT, one of which led to the game-winning FG? Or how about the ridiculous catch he made against Houston this year, a game we could have easily lost?

There aren't too many times where Dez has let us down when his number is called on in a game winning drive. It's ironic because at one point, people would complain about him disappearing in the second half of games. If I have to choose between the gawdy stats and clutch 4th quarter come back situations, I most definitely choose the latter based on how this Cowboys team is playing now (run-first)

I would give him the Franchise Tag for 2015 and see how he handles getting about 12 to 14 million for the year.

I think the bigger issues are his disappearing acts in some games.

I think the bigger issues are his disappearing acts in some games.

I put as much of that on the coaches as I do Dez.

The Cowboy coaches don't do a good job designing plays to create mismatches for their players. They rely way too much on the player beating his man 1-on-1.

The only issue I take with his game is, IMO, he doesn't go after the ball aggressively enough. For someone with his talent, I expect him to go and get the ball with the same aggression he he plays with once he has it.

Here's the bottom line. Dez has issues, and he knows it. Leaving here and learning a new system with different people is not a good situation for him. He knows it, and Dallas knows it. If he wants a contract, he has to give a discount with protection incentives. Otherwise, he'll get the franchise tag.

Here's the video:

If the reporter was worth a ****, he should have stated the dates the police were called out to Dez's house.

It makes a huge difference if all the incidents were over 3 years ago vs within the last 6 months which leads me to think these are old because Ian would have harped on the dates if they were recent

so sick of the manipulative media on all subjects, can't trust anything anymore
