Is dtackle coming next?

Maybe they could add a guy. Like someone who is legitimately good against the run like Hankins was. It would at least stoke the fan base.
This is most likely what they will do, but might wait to see how their young prospects look first

Your preseason predictions about the quality DTs they were definitely going to add aren't looking so hot Ram
LOL this is like one of a bazillion predictions he’s gotten wrong.

I wouldn’t count on a DT trade. They still foolishly think Mazi is a player so he will get every opportunity to lock down the 1T.

They should have signed Poona Ford, started him next to Osa and then Maxi as a reserve would have been a nice rotation.

instead of Pickens they should have been working on a deal for a real NT

but once again this shows that nothing has really changed with the front office despite the ad nauseum BS from the homers and Jethro Kool Aid drinkers
Need both.

Is D J Reader a legit option? The Lions drafted a dtackle in the first round. Does this mean that Reader would be available? Is Reader the guy or is there somebody else out there that they could target?
They can only fill so many holes this off-season with good players .
No team with a lot of holes can fix them all in one off-season.

Be glad we got a top WR, and 2 promising RB's plus the 2 vets !
Top new RG, potential top DB, and LB.

I think they did a lot , enough to make them competitive now.

They did get a samoan
DT didnt they ? in 6th or 7th They need to look at what they have in TC.

you know with mazi, I think rookie contracts are guaranteed, so they have to pay him even if they cut him, which means stephen is going to keep them regardless.
Even worse mazi was a first round pick? If so he could be making 7-8 mil a year, so do you cut
him and still pay him that much, or do you try to get something out of him, fix him etc ??

we have been filling holes, saying exactly what you said for how many years? and fans with short memories forget and restart the clock, every off season.
its a one year plan for the cowboys. always

so why not throw a 7th round WR and trade for a DT or LB instead? they are throwing 7th rounders at the problem. in the meantime Eagles drafted two DTs two years in a row in the first round. they just won the superbowl....

IMO they know mazi is not a player, but Jerry doesn't like to let players go before their contracts are out. so he keeps them to the end at any detriment.

100% why do people not realize that we've addressed it in the draft we brought back Justin Rogers we also still have Mozzy we still have Joseph we have other dues we need to give them reps all training camp and the first couple preseason games the Cowboys will reevaluate during cutdowns on where they may or may not need to go to fill a hole before September.. But they want to see what these guys can do apparently the defensive tackle from UCLA toilet or whatever his name is was a top 100 evaluation that dropped into the two hundreds so he's not possibly as bad as people might want to put him and label him as a 7th round pick..

I prefer to let right now where the roster sits going to all these camps and let them start being evaluated it's right in the preseason if they need to make a trade or wait till cut downs and find another guy when they're cutting their own rosters down they'll go get somebody and if I had to guess it would be corner where they would address first they would bring in a guy like Gilmore or make a trade for a corner because that's where we're injured the most that's where all the big question marks are yes we have talented corners on this team but most of them are hurt we don't even know when they're coming back..
we draft low round players, with minimal chance of making the roster and making any impact. how did Rodgers do last year?

in the meantime Eagles drafted two DTs in the first round two years in the row. that's how much they value the position. we throw 6th and 7th rounders at the problem hoping one sticks. or draft Mazi because he could jump out of a shallow end of a pool in one leap. they can't even admit Mazi sucks. they keep wanting to see what he can do. he was hot garbage two years ago. couldn't even start. last year he was warm garbage and people celebrate his improvement to a better type of garbage.

I'd be surprised. We added Thomas to rotate in with Odighizuwa and play next to him on some downs. And we added Toia to compete with last year's draft pick to rotate in with Mazi and possibly play next to him some on some downs to stop the run. On top of that we added Akingbesote in the draft as well.

Now, the FA didn't cost us much and the DTs were seventh-rounders, but I think we'll see what we've got there (much like the RB position) before deciding during camp if we need to do more.

Stoking the fan base isn't even on the Jones clan radar.

They very clearly don't care about the fans and haven't in a long time.
The staff just earned respect and crying mode still dominates. This is the wrong time and year to drag out a 30 year old calendar. The Cowboys still are playing football.

We drafted two DT’s so we won’t be trading for one. They were low round picks so hard to get excited about them. We’ll be giving it a go with what we have and see what happens. If someone doesn’t step up DT will be a high priority next offseason. There’s always a possibility we could trade for a DT during the season if we continue to struggle at the position.

If Reader is an upgrade, it wouldn't surprise me if they try to acquire him.

We needed a WR and a DT. We got a WR. Will we get a DT? I don't know where the homers, Jethro and Kool Aid drinkers come into play here.
because no matter what, if we do not have a better middle of the D line then another WR will not make much difference at all in winning games

There’s just nothing really out there that would he remotely reasonable when it comes to cost.

No!
Detroit sees themselves as a legitimate SB contender. I don’t see them having any interest in hanging their hat on a rookie who probably went 10 to 12 spots early.
I don’t see Jerry having much interest in a 6.6 million base on someone who will only play 35% of the snaps without at least getting an idea on where they are with Smith and Toia.

I’d think Andrew Billings (Chicago … Eberflus) would be a more likely candidate at the trade deadline. With the signing of Grady Jarrett he’s been pushed into a backup role and they have 3 developmental DTs plus Shemar Turner who they drafted in the 2nd.

The 2.2m base hit would be much more palatable to Jerry between the 2 players with comparable skillsets!

I'm all for adding another + sized veteran 1T to mix in with this group and possibly provide some leadership.

Mazi 6'3 330 (unknown since weightloss)
Toia 6'2 342
Rogers 6'2 346

I'd like for these young big guys (Rogers n Toia) to work out, defeat double teams and clog lanes. Ideally, in some instances Mazi could play 3T next to a bigger run stuffer to shut off the middle run lanes.

Maybe both these guys show up and the Cowboys keep 5 DTs to maximize stopping the the run.
