Is Eberflus a 3-4 guy?

Seems like Eberflus was a LB or DL coach for Butch Davis at UNC ,,,IIRC. I think he is not married to any one scheme.

Has Rod actually left? Could all this a negotiating scheme to get JJ to pay him more?

We don't have the nosetackle for it. I could see Crawford being a very good 3-4 DE but the personnel at the important parts (Nose and Pass Rushers) isn't there.

Terrance Knighten is about to hit free agency and would be really good there. Crawford would make a really good 3-4 DE IMO. Might be worth considering if we could find a way to get Knighten.

Eberflus is not just a 34 guy. Eberflus came from Missouri. I believe that they ran a 43 and pretty darn well if I recall. I believe he played at Toledo under Gary Pinkel and I think he played in a 43. Eberflus knows the 43 and also the 34. Will he be named as the new DC if Marinelli leaves? That I don't know but Eberflus is a guy who understands either scheme.

Before joining Ryan in Cleveland, Eberflus was at Missouri running the 4-3 so he has plenty of experience with it. Remember, Mike Zimmer when from coaching the 4-3 to coaching the 3-4 in one year in Dallas. It's not a huge deal for the coordinator.

You just beat me.

I just want a scheme where the dbs arent playing 12 yards off on a 3rd and 6 lol

I dont know which is better but it seems you need really good safeties to run a 4-3.

I like the idea of someone experienced with 4-3 but I want someone aggressive. Dick jauron is a bit too passive
Don't want to die a slow death

It's difficult to find a good coordinator. Most of the coaches fired were 3-4 too.

I think it will be interesting. If he's a 3-4 guy and believes he can get a better pass rush from guys like Spencer and Lawrence in a 3-4 scheme, what would stop him?

If that's what he prefers and you're hiring him as your Def coordinator wouldn't you be setting him up for failure if you dictate his scheme?

Or we can switch back and forth...
