Is ET still in the works?

Wasn’t planning yet another thread on this but hear me out. Jones is moving to corner and no safeties have even been brought in for a FA visit. That leaves a whopping three safeties on the whole roster. I assumed we would hit safety in the draft to fill the gaps. But that doesn’t appear to be the case. The visit list is almost entirely devoid of safeties. And none of the highly ranked ones. So what gives? Are we rolling with Heath, woods and Frazier?? Or is something else in the works?

My best guess would be that they're keeping their options open. Much like I feel they are with other positions like linebacker too.

I think they've wisely ended conversations with Seattle based on the ridiculous reported asking price of 1st and 3rd round picks. If the Seahawks do want to move Thomas, and do want to actually participate in this year's draft (and they need to), those foolish demands will drop considerably on draft day.

At that point, it would depend on exactly what Thomas was looking for in terms of a new contract. If he wants tops in the league money, I'm not interested whatsoever. If his price is reasonable, I'd give up a 3rd round pick and maybe another one later on to get a deal done.

But if the numbers don't work, I'm not doing anything stupid to get him.

Its early April. There's no rush. They are doing their due diligence. OPTIONS. Btw...its not Dallas' job to call Seattle at this point. If Seattle wants to be reasonable and are serious about a deal to move ET...then they SHOULD be the ones to come callin. Seattle has zero bargaining power.

The Earl Thomas acquisition as it currently stands regarding Seattle’s asking price, ET’s contract, his age, and his recent injury history makes getting him a bad idea in my book. If I’m not mistaken, ET will be a FA in 2019, making him a possible one year “rent a player” if his price were to go up. That may not happen because of his age and injury problems...he hasn’t played a full season in two years.

Now if things changed in some big ways, like asking price, his contract situation....maybe. As it stands now, it’s not a good move IMO.

I think it has a lot to do with the history of this team. It feels like they don’t really value safety all that much. I feel like this team has had a hole there since woodson retired.

Also Maybe they are looking at puting Awuzie there ?

They don't even value defense. When was the last time we had an awesome defense here. Think about it.

If anything I think earl will help Dallas out seeing how he wants to end his career with his home team. Rarely do alot of players get a shot at their favorite team.

I think because of this earl could give Dallas a discount and on draft day the Seahawks crazy offer will be cut down to size as the real action and moving parts start getting to churning.

Right now Seattle is all talk.

When you think outside of the box Dallas actually could land thomas.

If it's going to get done on draft day the deal is going to have to get hammered out for his contract way in advance....no way they can get that done on the clock

I agree that we should pass at the current price. Just wondering if they think the price will come down as we get closer to the draft

"Wasn't planning another thread on this, but hear me out" ... *says what literally every other person who's made a thread about this has said.

We will most likely get at least 1 in the draft. There are still a couple of Box safeties still on the market whose prices will certainly come
down after the draft if not signed. Dallas does not value the safety position and will not pay big bucks for one. If Dallas needs one, they
will get one and you can bet they will not cost much.

Well, look at the FA's we've signed. Mostly frugal and don't break the bank types. ET would not be frugal and the bank isn't big enough for his long distance calls. Yes, I think we'll float with Frazier, Heath and Woods as our starting safeties. Yes, I think we will draft one somewhere in the first 4 rounds. JMO though. Most bankers wouldn't accept it as collateral :)

Forget that. Dallas is not going to make any deal with Seattle for Earl. He wants to break the bank on salary and Dallas does not pay
big money for safeties, ever.

I think they may consider the move as we get closer to the draft.

Player value drops and picks are of a premium, Seattle may cave on the asking price.

Time will tell...

Nor should they. Especially in this case. The asking price is dropping daily. I'm estimating a 5th round pick and a player can get him.

I have no problem with passing on him but a true home town discount would be worth consideration.... unfortunately I think it's a pipe dream
