SEA isn’t really expecting a first and a third for him.

I’m not sure what the plan is at S, but you’re right that it’s strange they haven’t at least brought in a vet for coverage like we normally do.

When Thomas told the press last week not to get it twisted, that he wants to stay in SEA, that’s when I considered the trade option on hold. Whatever was going on, they probably stalled out, and I’m going to guess it had more to do with the soft market for Safeties. It might be better for him to just play his last year and go through regular free agency next year at 30 and let SEA take their comp pick.

Look this nonsense needs to stop, as much as i luv ET from his UT days and what hes done in his career, hes on his last contract, hes looking to do nothing more to cash in and Seattle's not letting him go unless they get a kings ransom..

newsflash hes not worth a Kings ransom at this point..if he was a FA , maybe but they want Picks, trades of good players and ET wants BIG Money..i for one and not having a Herschel walker type deal help Seattle rebuild and quickly kill our cap for the next 10 years with more pipe dreams.

hes really good , could help our team, BUT HES NOT WORTH THE ASKING PRICE AND HOW MUCH IT COULD SET THEIS TEAM BACK.. Go get Reid or Vacarro or trade up for James or Fitzpatrick..id rather cost us draft picks on a rookie with ET talent and have him for 6plus years than ET for 2 and than his contract for 6..

i think we are ok we can either put a Vea up front that helps our backend with Woods and Frazier getting better or get a great safety in the draft and helps our Cb and front..either is still easily doable.. like i said we have options we aren't desperate and i think all this ET pipedream talk should be shut down..

I don't view it as "nonsense" as much as we Cowboys fans see how weak we are at the safety position and that we haven't had any safety in a substantial period of time that was worth much of anything.........................

Seattle is playing this all wrong. Whats going to happen is...not only do they alienate a key cog in their secondary...but now they risk having a disgruntled player in the locker room in the last year of his deal..THEN...the cherry on top is..they get zilch for him next off season..plus...the comp. pick they would get wouldn't be all that good. It would behoove them to drop the asking price significantly right now and to get value in return.

BTW guys..Woods and Frazier as our starting safeties wouldn't be a bad thing IMO. I cannot wait to see the development of the youngsters.

I fully expect Thomas to go back to the pay window looking for that last big contract, wherever he ends up playing. He was already making overtures and threats about not playing until he got a new deal. And I think he would do that wherever he plays. His love letter to Seattle was proof of that for me.

Any talk of "coming home" to play was just that, talk, and an attempt to leverage a demand for him to get someone to pay him. I think he's made it clear that he's fine with either place as like as someone will pay him that big money. And if he's looking for more than he's making now? Let him be Seattle's problem and holdout.

I don’t think we have the money or want to give up the draft picks to get him. Is he a upgrade? Yes. But we may be able to draft one that’s an upgrade also.

An "upgrade" at safety on this team is kind of like finding a place that makes a better burger than your local greasy spoon..........It's not much of an achievement...............

If any team gives up anything more than a 4th rounder for him, they got screwed. Right now if I'm needing a safety...here's what I'm thinking. Lets sit and wait on Seattle to get realistic about ET...and lets see whats available via the draft...and C...lets wait until June 1 cuts. Seattle really is screwing themselves if they allow him to play out his final year. Me thinks Seattle will do something before the draft.
I think whoever caves in.....will give up more than that. I think they settle for a 2 or a 3. I think they would rather keep him and get a comp pick than settle for a 4.

They don't even value defense. When was the last time we had an awesome defense here. Think about it.
They clearly value defense. Seven of nine draft picks last year, including the first three. Five of nine the year before, three of the first four. Four of the first five the year before that. They're not bad at it because they don't value it.

I love ET..but part of me wants to see Frazier and Woods..OR HEATH get the starting nod. Some combo of the 3 would be intriguing.

Right, there are 2 sides of the ball, so they can't ignore it completely.. but my point was they don't value it enough, because if they did they would put in the work to draft players who would make a difference. When was the last time we had a dominant defense? Just answer that question for me.

Yep. When teams talk about trading a beloved player, they always float huge deaft pick compensation first. Then the fans get used to the idea and their real number eventually comes out. Letting the fart out slowly.

The hang up on Thomas has been his compensation. The market’s a lot softer than he wanted. He won’t get very near his number from either SEA or Dallas. So now he sits and waits to see what the rest of the Safeties get and he can make his decision from there. There might still be opportunity there, but it makes more sense for him to play out his deal right now if he can’t get the big last contract this season.

The Rams will be in cap HELL in a year or 2. The Texans got a nice player in the Honey Badger...but as good as he is..I'm not real sure he was the best fit here. I'm also thinking maybe he wasn't the best team mate in Zona.Otherwise he would be there still.I like the guys we have in the secondary.

Unless you have a Brady who can play to age 40, you have to spend the farm to try and get that SB in the window of your other good players.
If you win the SB, then you have to dump half the team to get under the cap. That is the way teams manage the cap and the draft to have a
chance to win a SB every 5 years or so. Dallas is still living in the dream world of the 90's when there was no salary cap.

Was it even in the works or is this based on his approaching Garrett after the game? What is it about Booger that would lead them to believe he prizes that position enough to give up what they're asking? DT and S are two that do not get top priority.

I don't want Thomas at that asking price but here's what I do not get about this team. Marinelli runs Kiffin's D, right? What was the hallmark of that D when he ran it well? Stud DT and S and throw in a knockout LB as well. Have they acquired any of that? A 100% healthy Smith might have filled that Derrick Brooks role but what players are playing the Lynch and Sapp roles? Didn't hurt having those CBs either.

Here's Marinelli's problem, he wants to run Kiffin's D but in Tampa Kiffin had the cap lean his way with a hefty % applied to that side. Marinelli has the opposite and it's about to get worse. So, if this team is going to have to do this with primarily 1st contract D players, is the T2 the best D to run? And is Marinelli the best DC to run a young man's D?

My best guess would be that they're keeping their options open. Much like I feel they are with other positions like linebacker too.

I think they've wisely ended conversations with Seattle based on the ridiculous reported asking price of 1st and 3rd round picks. If the Seahawks do want to move Thomas, and do want to actually participate in this year's draft (and they need to), those foolish demands will drop considerably on draft day.

At that point, it would depend on exactly what Thomas was looking for in terms of a new contract. If he wants tops in the league money, I'm not interested whatsoever. If his price is reasonable, I'd give up a 3rd round pick and maybe another one later on to get a deal done.

But if the numbers don't work, I'm not doing anything stupid to get him.

Don't think there will ever be a deal done here,,
Unless it involves a possible draft day trade,, that's where I somewhat agreeable.
The deal would have to include Dez, but the values of that trade are only pure speculation at this point.
I could see Dallas trading the contracts, but wanting more as in draft picks from us,, maybe a comp 4.
I would do that deal.
Most here would be able to stomach drafting a WR at 19 if that were to transpire, cause you know that would be the immediate result.

Why would Sea be interested in Dez and that contract?
