Goff or Ramsey was supposedly going to be the pick but maybe that was just because they knew teams were trying to jump them.

I'd hate Foles to Dallas. Let's get a backup who can actually play a game or two in a pinch.

I will start off by saying that I am not a Foles fan, at all. However, he won quite a few games for the Eagles. If he sucks that bad, and Chip won as many games as he did with Foles, then Chip isn't the moron everyone makes him out to be.

Foles would probably be as good of a backup as we have had since we had the former Detroit Lion, Kitna.

I think you overrate the market Foles would have if he were a free agent. Teams aren't blind to the fact that he was pretty awful in 2014 and got benched in St. Louis in 2015. That 2013 season was an anomaly and most teams probably would realize that. And unless the Rams cut him, if a team wants him, even for a 7th round pick, it would be moronic because he has cap hits of $9MM and $13.5MM in 2016 and 2017.

Paying that for a mediocre QB would be insane.

I've never liked him. And I do think Chip's offense is quite a bit better than people give him credit for. Foles that year, though (2013?), man, it was frustrating watching him play. He'd sit back there with those slow reads and then just loft balls downfield way off target. And guys like Riley Cooper would somehow get underneath them and come down with it. He had great numbers, but it was awful to watch, and he couldn't keep it up. Then last year he had a negative TD/INT ratio and a passer rating in the 60s. Blech. No thanks. Give me a guy without the name recognition who can drive a bus for a game or two.

Fact: we have Tony Romo coming off his injuries and surgeries....with Kellen Moore as his backup...after the fiasco we had last season with the backup QB's, it amazes me that we sit here and have done absolutely nothing about it. so to answer the OP question...we should be exploring all options both in FA and in the draft.

With the Rams / Titans trade, and if the Rams pick goof or Wentz. Does a draft day trade happen to get Foles.
A late round draft pick, but we only have the Raiders 6th to offer. Or a trade like a 2017 conditional late round pick. Nothing higher than a 6th or 7th.

Or would we even be interested. say if no QB is there in the 2nd round round for us to take.
Or we make the trade, but can then select a QB in the 4th or even 6th round to develop.

If not Wentz or Goff then I want us to go ALL defense because that is the only way we are going to get to the playoffs. No other Offensive player is going to matter so here is the crystal ball prediction: Defense is winning games at the beginning of the season, we are running the ball pretty good. then Garrett decides he is going for the long pass to Des, slow footed Romo gets tackled and breaks his collar bone/hurts back/concussion and out for the season. The non-draft Wentz/Goff who can not play in a Romo style offense leads the team. Final record is 8-8 no playoff and look for that QB to replace Romo. The next couple of years are low quality QB. Dallas sends the next 10 years looking for the next Wentz to show up.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade but Romo has become a liability as did Aikman at the end of his career. Ok, shoot me but I am now feeling down about the draft.
