Is honey actually any better than white sugar?

A friend of mine has a bunch of beehives and she sends me a jar of their honey ever so often. I've taken to sweetening my regular black tea or Earl Grey tea with it. I ran out of her honey and started buying honey from the store. The tea tastes good with honey in it, but is that honey actually any healthier than regular old white sugar? I read up on honey, and it would seem it's still a type of sugar. It's just a sugar food made by bees. Is it really any better?

Honey is natural. Regular sugar is refined. Your body can easily process honey where as not so much with refined sugar.

I’m more concerned about why you’re ruining your tea with a sweetener of any kind. Blasphemy. Especially the Earl.

Local honey has been proven to help people with seasonal allergies caused by the indigenous flora in the area. Needs to be local though.

Honey is made by bees and sugar is made by ants. Want proof? Leave the sugar out on the counter overnight and see who shows up to take their sugar back.

Hate to be that guy (in this situation) but I’ve looked into the local honey/allergy theory before and I don’t buy it. Like Vitamin C with preventing sickness, it’s all poppycock.

You have to rescores that information and not just take it for truth. Repatriable or not is the question. you just can't simply look up some thing published And have a hard back bone based off that information.

Honey is the Super Food of this world and it was derived perfect and has stood as indestructible for millions of years. Period! Can't mess with this one.

So several studies over several years from several different sources that all come to the same conclusion should be disregarded or taken with a grain of salt and I should believe something that has never been scientifically backed but is an urban legend.

Ok, sure, makes sense. I guess I should believe in the Easter Bunny too.

Lol. I love honey and poppycock. I put honey on my oatmeal and I must admit that I’m quite generous with it.

My favorite form of honey comes in the form of mead, especially melomels, and specifically Schramms (triple platinum gold standard of meads) and Superstition. Both deliver to most states you better have your wallet olen and house paid off. It’s actually fascinating to read about the different types of meads, what honey they use and how it effects the flavor and overall profile.

No one said it’s not good for you and doesn’t have health benefits. As far as allergies go, it even says in the link YOU provided that nothing has been proven that it helps with allergies so thanks for supporting my original statement. Poppycock.

There's basically no difference. Honey is slightly sweeter, has slightly more other nutrients and stuff, but the differences are so tiny as to be meaningless.
