Is honey actually any better than white sugar?

Hate to be that guy (in this situation) but I’ve looked into the local honey/allergy theory before and I don’t buy it. Like Vitamin C with preventing sickness, it’s all poppycock.

Vitamin C doesn't prevent sickness, but it does boost your immune system, helping your body to fight sickness, though just taking Vitamin C when you're sick isn't going to help. It needs to be a regular part of your diet.
As for local honey, I don't know either way, but it sure won't hurt you to use local honey over national brands... except maybe your wallet.

Yeah, I was more referring to the people who start getting wick and think vitamin C will all of the sudden knock out a cold.

I usually try to support local/independent businesses if I can but like you mentioned, I’m only willing to pay so much. I don’t mind paying extra but sometimes it’s just too much.

Sure, but excess vitamin C doesn't do you any good; it just gets flushed away. As long as you have a good diet, you get all the vitamin C benefits you're going to get.

You can become addicted to white sugar, and your body actually craves it. I don't have the medical knowledge, but sugar alters your body chemistry in other ways as well.

Honey doesn't do that.

You want something tasty? Grab either Mike's Hot Honey or Red Clay Hot Honey. Great combo of heat and sweet and makes a terrific marinade. I use it in my jerky marinade and it is great.

I had used local honey for a while to try to curb my allergies. It didn't seem to work. What has really helped is Claritin and Flonase.

Honey is still sugars. So from a blood sugar, weight gain/loss perspective, they are very similar. Still need to use honey in moderation.

honey does have a bunch of other nutritional properties are good though. While white sugar has none.

so honey is superior.

it also tastes better in tea than sugar does.

To be honest. I don’t use sweeteners in Earl grey tea.

I do like honey in green tea though.
