Is It a better strategy to finish the Offense or build the defense

Not sure about this. Atlanta was not all that great of a Defense last year. I think they were like 25th. On the other hand, New England was. They were top 10. I think it was just the opposite. The better D did win. The better O lost.

The better O lost because they couldn't control the clock enough to keep their D off the field. NEs D couldn't contain the Falcon offense for 4 qtrs, if not for the Bonehead play calling the Falcons would have won a championship.

Or you could say, the Better O was held scoreless in the 4th quarter while the superior Defense was able to score 19 in the 4th and another 6 in OT.

Say what you want but original statement was true. The better Offense lost. The Better Defense won.

LOL. Agree. Quick example & I'm done with this topic. Look at this past SB. My gosh, the Falcons' D was spectacular the entire season. So, in return they made it to the big dance, only to fall apart by getting tired which gave Brady the D shredder mode lol. At the end, the best D didn't win, but instead, the best O did.

Maybe. But Belichick is a defensive guy and hus defenses are always solid and grossly underrated. Brady and friends get the glory...but that defense is always smart tough.

Being that it's hard to do both long term with the salary cap and with few premium draft picks. In my humble opinion we are 3 players away from a Elite offense. 1. Field stretching TE. Witten is the best at what he does but he doesn't stretch the field. 2. #2 receiver with speed to compliment Dez. 3. Solid RT. All I gotta say is Doug Free.

The Defense needs a complete overhaul.We need speed and talent. Lee, Brown and Jones and a bunch of question marks, Drug suspensions, bad backs, nerves not firing and bad luck.

If you were the GM what would you do.

Finish the defense. I have seen what not having a defense has done. Tony Romo's entire career was wasted because of this and if dallas continues to do it they are doomed for failure. Drafting corners and DB high only works when you draft DL high first...yeah so why do they keep drafting CB'S that never work out? And lineman that are mid round JAG'S. Work on the defense or this offense is gonna have a rude awakening..

Outdated? Did you watch the previous 3 SB's and most SB's of the last 50 yrs? Defense wins the big games.

Defense can win big games. So can offense. Four of the past five Super Bowls went over 50 points. I'll grant you that one was Seattle taking it to Denver - led by Seattle's defense. But that still means three of the past five championship games were shootouts by NFL standards.

Hard to forget the Denver Defense or the Seahawks killer defenses and lets not forget the Belichick is a defensive guy and his defenses are always very tough and the Patriot Defense played a hugh role in the lasted SB Victory. No club can win a SB without a Great Defense.

That's simply not true. Indianapolis won it in 2007 and that wasn't a great defense. New England this year had a good defense but it was hardly great. Baltimore has a big rep for defense but when they won in 2013 they were statistically not any better than Dallas this year.
