He'll play for 17 M next year but he'll get a massive signing bonus when he signs a new contract next year.
Of course. He'll get a signing bonus and a bunch of guaranteed money. But he can play next year without getting an extension and not lose any money. But are we sure Dallas is going to extend him? They could have already given him an extension. For cap purposes, it would have been better for Dallas to have already extended him. Maybe they're not sold on him yet.

Is it odd that Ceedee Lamb isn't getting touches in a contract year

It is odd whenever any top 10 wide receiver does not get enough targets per game during any season, contract or otherwise. Each season, there are a few receivers (or tight ends for that matter) who are 'always' open when they are covered. Lamb is one of those receivers.

An opponent's defense can play a factor every so often. They get paid too. Even receivers like Tyreek Hill have a 'bad' game from time to time but average or below average games should never become a trend for a top receiver.

So, is Jerry going to fire McCarthy for foiling his chess moves to somehow keep CeeDee on the roster but low ball him in negotiations?

Where were you last week?
Only show your face for the good game. Easy pickings.
Show up in the bad times too warrior
Lamb having a a good or bad game can happen. Suggesting that the Cowboys offense is freezing him out for contract negotiations is the ridiculousness I was calling out.

I'm glad we don't have an offense where we're forced to force the ball CeeDee's way because he is acting like a diva
