Is it the scheme or the QB?

What McCarthy is running right now doesn't look even remotely like a modern west coast scheme. Dak is who he's always been -- serviceable-to-good when circumstances are favorable, and often a liability when they aren't.

After last night, I think we finally have enough data to conclude that it's time to hit the reset button and rebuild the offense from scratch. There's no amount of window dressing that can take this thing anywhere, and the more you try to force it, the more years you're ultimately setting yourself back.
Outstanding post.

I'm not one to lay blame on one single person. I understand the QB is considered to be the leader of a team...However I just used the most important word right there "TEAM!" Dak seems to be a very humble young man, and I don't see a "I" in team. No one gave their absolute best last night! I believe we are as talented as the 49ers, but forget to perform at our highest level against a team like the 49ers or Eagles. We win and lose as a "team!" We take the good, bad, and the ugly of it all. We move forward as that's all we can do!

It's the QB 100%. The player has to make the plays and know when to recognize a bad read when it appears and go through the progressions. Why do you think the guy throws so many INT's? He hits the first read and tries to throw it into the tightest of windows and either gets it picked off or it bounces up in the air for an easy catch.........by the other team.

Really, this is smoke to try to bring up another excuse for darling Dak. He sucks, he sucks, and he still sucks. We’ve been through every scenario with it’s the wr, it’s the line, it’s the te, it’s offensive coordinators. The only common element over last eight years is Dak and front office. Front office isn’t playing and they aren’t the ones missing open receivers, taking sacks that should have thrown away, going three and out 6/7 possessions that’s gassing your defense. Oh let’s not forget that excuse, it’s the defenses fault.lol. They one more than Dakota as they got off the field in second possession then got you a fumble recovery both times Dak can’t do anything besides three and out

Who is more to blame, the scheme or the QB?

I see alot of fans blame mccarthy and his wco for the offensive performance tonight but coming into this game, the offense was one of the best at sustaining drives and getting into the redzone. However, tonight was pathetic.

Are receivers really not open or is the QB too scared to attack the MOF?
Really good observation about Dak throwing the football to the middle of the field. He is afraid to be picked. Can’t play quarterback that way.

It's both.

And anyone saying otherwise is being foolish.

Barring some miraculous turnaround, blow the whole offense up in the offseason. Dump Dak. Dump McCarthy (or at very least take his playcalling away). That's the smart, prudent move.

Both. Dak has regressed to a state that’s much worse than he was as a rookie, and this offense is stale.

Re-tread coaches don’t work in the NFL. We need some new blood.

Which scheme?

Linehan's?

Garrett's?

Moore's

McCarthy's?
LOL, at thinking Dak has had four coordinators therefore, he has to be the sole problem. But then you list them and undermine your point.

Linehan wasn't a good OC. He got fired by Dallas, couldn't get hired for a year, ended up as a passing game coordinator in college and currently is an offensive analyst at the University of Missouri.

Garrett? LOL. So good that he got run out of NY as an OC after failing as a Cowboys HC and now is doing Notre Dame games and Sunday night football on NBC.

Moore? Probably the best of the bunch. And they had some big numbers together but failed in some key moments. Maybe it was a mistake to move on from him but then again, I don't think San Diego's O Is lighting anyone on fire.

McCarthy? Got run out of GB for a lack of creativity in his offense at the end despite having Rodgers. No one hired him for a year until we pulled him off the trash heap. After McCarthy left GB, they went to two NFC Title games and Rodgers won a MVP under a new, more aggressive/creative play caller.

This is not a defense of Dak. He's done. But thinking Dak is the reason all these guys failed/are failing is laughable. They aren't very good themselves.

Absolutely.

We need a young blood. Find the next McVay, Shanahan, Sirianni, etc.

Instead if we get rid of McCarthy, Jerry would probably just elevate Quinn or find some other retread desperate for a job and won't meddle with Jerry's desire to be GM and make all the decisions.

And the worst part? Stephen might be dumber than Jerry at this stuff.

Linehan came here and made Romo (a real QB) into an Mvp candidate

Linehan was the OC when Dak had his best season (2016).

He got fired because Dak is garbage and they needed a scapegoat for Daks historic WOAT stretch. And they didnt wanna lose Kellen

Im not even gonna get into KM offense. Multiple #1 offenses w Dak at QB. He goes to the Chargers and Herbert is balling out.

Herbert has 7 TDs and 1 Int. Why isnt KM’s “curl offense” a problem for him?

And then Linehan fell off the map. If he's so good why is he sitting in a dark room at Missouri watching game tape? I mean if it was just all Dak, surely someone would come calling to tap into that greatness? It's not like he is some old dude in his 80s now. He just turned 60. He's only 2 months older than Mccarthy. More than likely, Romo's improv skills made Linehan look competent.

Look, if you guys want to think McCarthy is some good coach and playcaller, have at it. Give him a different QB and guess what? They still won't win ****. Some of you are so anti-Dak that you'll cut off your nose in spite of your face here. This team's problems aren't just all centered on Dak. He's not very good at this point. No one should deny that. But thinking subtract him and add a good QB and we suddenly are running to the SB is foolhardy and silly. They don't have the HC/OC to make that kind of run.

They should blow the whole offense up this offseason (QB, OC, OL coach, etc) barring some miraculous run here.
