Is it time to stop the running back by committee approach?

Definitely ditch the RB by committee, I just don’t agree on the back you selected. Give Zeke the ball 20+ times and see what happens. If he bombs, so be it, but he’s an RB that needs carries and the chance to wear down the defense. Can he still do it? He certainly can’t getting 6-8 carries/game. I want to see how he runs in the second half after getting 10-12 carries in the first half. He’s still a load to bring down. It’s okay if you don’t agree, I’d just like to see them try it.
So would I but McCarthy aint interested in playin that brand of football so I've pretty much given up on seeing it. I'll never forget that game a few years ago when Henry entered the 4th quarter with like 25 yards on 23 carries and the announcers were gushing about what a good job the Seahawks had done on him. Then on his next carry he took one like 40 yards to the house which tied the game up and he subsequently won the game with a 50+ yard house call. People talk about how much better we would be with Henry.. I think he already had a similar game this season with the Ravens.. 20 carries of nothin and then BOOM! Off to the races. When was the last time any of our coaches gave a back the ball 20+ times when he was getting 1.1 ypc all game? The answer is simple.. never.. We don't do it hence having Henry, Emmitt, Jim Brown or Walter Payton wouldn't matter because this staff refuses to stay with the run if it's not getting at least 5 yards a pop. It is what it is.. and it aint changin unless and until we change coaches.

Is it asking too much to just name one starter, and give them 15+ carries in a game?? For right now, it would be Rico, sprinkle in Hunter to give him a break. This using 3+ different running backs isn't working. Please give your thoughts
Dallas has "running backs"???

On another thread I say exactly this . Rico at least 14-15 rushing attempts with Leupke and either Dalvin Cook or Elliott sprinkled in . Deuce Vaughn experiment seems broken send Deuce to PS .

I think it's part of the problem. Dowdle should be the starter. You can bring in Luepke on 3rd downs since they seem to enjoy that, and use Elliott in short yardage situations. I don't see the need to randomly rotate in Vaughn and just randomly swap out the backs constantly. It makes no sense to me.
If that's how you use those three players, other teams will figure it out and then you will be telling them what the next play is.

Wasn't Dowdle the starter in the last game?

Yes (link). Additionally, Rico Dowdle garnered 45% of the snaps versus the Giants, as opposed to Ezekiel Elliott's 18% and Deuce Vaughn's 7%.

The website depth chart has not been edited (which would be a lapse on the webmaster's part). The committee order changed but the underlying plan for it did not.

If Cleveland loses again this weekend they would be 1-4. Chubb may play and if he looks good might he go on the trade block. They also have Foreman. I don't think the asking price would be drastic for either of those if the Browns start looking to next year. Chubb gets salary off the books and they have better RBBC backs now than the cowboys. Foreman would be cheap and he just produces when given opportunities, Also make a push to land Garrett Wilson so the Jets can acquire Adams. don't know if Jets would trade him but Rodgers might push for it if it means Adams is coming.

It is definitely working. The problem is you don't understand what they were trying to accomplish.

Their goal was to save money.

Running back by committee isn't an issue, most teams use multiple backs. The issue is that the backs we have really aren't that good. How many of these guys even make most other rosters coming out of camp?
Just look at undrafted Jordan Mason he is going to be an All-Pro RB this season.

He is on pace for 1,900 yards and a 4.9 yards per carry. How can that be he was not drafted???

The Niners wasted money on McCaffrey. Lynch needs to be fired. Second dumb decision, I will let you guess the first.

First they luck out with Purdy after a dumb traded for a 20 year, now they luck out with Mason after giving big money to McCaffrey.

It is the OLine!!! The game is won in the trenches.

Watch Mason get a big contract next year on another team and his numbers will drop significantly.

Yes, Jerry and Stephen are rumored to soon reveal that their next bold move to make team decisions is by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Dallas, not establishing the running game, is not due to RB talent necessarily. It is the playcalling and blocking. No consistency in the running game would even lessen a better back. The whole offense is pedestrian and predictable.
Jerry made it seem like in a recent interview that it wasn't in the game plan to run that much

The cowboys do not have a talented workhorse back who can do it all. I think Rico should get the bulk of the carries with a good dose of leupke, blocking, running, catching etc and If they can draw up better plays to get Vaughn on the edge or in space cool but not run up the gut. Zeke needs to sit down unless they need a 1 yard score or 4th and 1 situation.

Yep, the running backs on this team are straight up trash so naming one the starter over the others is kinda pointless.

Now if we would have signed King Henry like I was advocating during free agency, this would be a different story, but I was told by the experts here that Henry was washed and we didnt need him:facepalm:

King Henry currently leads the NFL in rushing, including the longest rush in the league this year, an 87 yard TD run.

For comparison purposes, the Cowboy's longest rush this year is 12 yards................that is the lowest in the entire NFL currently, every other team has had a rush longer than this......and the kicker? It was by Lamb, not even a RB:laugh:
