He's never been a great blocker or a speed guy. His route running has to be nearly perfect just to make up for that. And his hands? The drops and fumbles can be brutal.

He used to be the kind of TE who could consistently move the chains, but those days seem to be over.

So...why do we like him again?

Exactly Spann-ford SHOULD be starting over Ferg. At least Spann-ford offers blocking ability.

I hated when we resigned him. I always knew he was Just A Guy. Nothing special. Not even a leader on the team. It made no sense to resign him last year. Jerry just loves wasting money. Jake Ferguson, Hunter Luepke. These guys were never anything special yet we act like they are. Hunter barely even plays and still struggle run blocking. Maybe we are keeping him just to be a special teams player? Then we give Steele that big contract WHILE he was rehabbing his ACL injury. I mean Jerry Jones wake up.

However, the constant bantering about the "Culture problem" in Dallas is justified IMO

How many times, over and over, do we see guys who perform well, get paid, and then basically disappear.

It's not a one off. Does it happen this much in other organizations? Or am I just missing it because I pay more attention to Dallas? Honest question. But as the saying goes, if I had a dollar for every guy who got paid by our FO and then basically collapsed.....

It happens just as often if not more in other organizations.

Schultz wasn’t the answer either though. Span-Ford needs more opportunities

I think the new scheme doesn't suite him very well. we have kind of gotten away from using TEs.
