First an apology for yet another Jerry-Garrett thread, but that is, afterall, the ginormous story of the moment.

This thought has crossed my mind a few times, and now I've heard more than a couple analysts say aloud what I'm thinking. I'm sure many of you are, too.

Is Jerry harkening back to that dark day of 1993, trying to re-create a Jimmy Johnson scenario in order to get Garrett gone soon?

By all but forcing Jason to fire his brother - it was confirmed that John Garrett has contacted Delaware State about a gig - and stripping him of his playcalling duties, is Jerry manufacturing one of those situations that always ends in irreconcilable differences? Forcing a new OC on him might be the crowning humility.

Remember Jimmy's famous words, "Jerry and I have decided that I will no longer be the coach of the Dallas Cowboys." This after a dust-up over a toast post Super Bowl glory. I grit my teeth over it to this very day.

Jerry, as we've discussed, it still really peeved, and he's on a Lance Armstrong-bullying spree throughout Valley Ranch. Puckered-up sphincters out there, no doubt.

And rumors swell about some fairly public in-house bickering between the two has been seen. Public to the folks that work at Valley Ranch and some of the semi-reporters that are given more access than the standard media. Leaks abound.

Here's a link to the same effect as what I've heard from local reporters: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/01/16/uncertainty-still-looms-over-jason-garrett-in-dallas/

I realize this is a twist to my "You're Jason Garrett" thread, but I'd like to get everybody's thoughts on this specific notion. And it is admittedly only semi-substantiated hearsay at this point.

So is Jerry trying to run Garrett off in Jimmy Johnson fashion

I'm actually bored with this. Jason will be the coach next year. Jerry isn't going to pay him 3+ mill to sit at home.

If his contract was up im sure Jerry would be looking at Zimmer, Gruden, or Lovie.

Since it's not we're just going to have to stick with Garrett for another year at least.

That's why you'll see Callahan as the playcaller. If Jason fails Jerry won't want to have to payout an offensive coordinator too.

This. Especially about the bored part.

Your facts are a bit distorted about Jerry running Jimmy outta Dallas. So, not sure what kind of drama your trying to stir up. But It would seem that Jerry wants Jason to succeed, not run him outta town.

JG is going to be the coach no doubt.. with that said, I can see him having a horrible year and us rebuilding the following year.

Yep. We're usually a year late than a year early.

Garrett should have been fired this year but we're going to make extra sure that he sucks.

Although it has been confirmed that his brother is looking at other Jobs. I have found nothing beyond opinion and speculation that Jerry has fired him or is forcing Jason to fire him.

Also there is plenty of speculation and opinion going around that Jerry has or is stripping Jason of play calling duties but I have yet to see it come from Jason or Jerry's mouth. Does not mean it will not happen or has not been talked about by Jerry and or Jason but until the time it happens or one of them comes out and says it will happen...than again it is opinion and speculation.

I have also heard many threads and opinions that it was Jerry's idea to fire (name coach here) or it was Jason's idea to fire (name coach here). Both sides seem to be adamant that their opinions are the correct ones...some to the point of acting as if their opinions on the matter are fact. However again all of this is still opinion and speculation.

Now there is nothing wrong with giving one's opinions or even speculating what is and what is not going on any given topic. But I think everyone is best served if they remember they are giving an opinion and are speculating instead of digging into a trench, backing oneself into a corner and acting as if one's opinions and speculations on many of these topics are facts...when they are not.

Just friendly advice.

Jerry didn't create the Jimmy scenario. Jimmy did with his slow build up of tensions, and it worked for him.

The only "facts" are the rumors flying around the local media, including the Cowboys flagship radio station. I certainly don't purport to be citing verified facts here.

It's an odd scenario with all the built-in nepotism and normal abnormality that happens to be just business as usual with our team.

True enough, so perhaps a similar situation with Jerry pulling the strings this time that ends the same?

Completely agree. We are always late to get rid of coaches and players that need to go or that we can get a lot for and are getting old. And then it just ends up hurting our future. That is part of the reason we have sucked for the last 17 years.

I'm beginning to see the JJ light... New defense without the right players...Old DC who might depart in a year. Bad offense left twisting in the wind. A season of 1x15 next year so that the house can be cleaned with no leftover coach salaries. You get 1st draft pick next year and go whole hog for "Johnnie Ball"... I can see it now. Championship...

Setting aside my UT loyalties(not easy to do), I would love to see Johnny Football wearing the star.
