I know he is a generous owner who will do almost anything to put a winner onto the field. But I think sometimes his ego gets in the way of our ultimate goal of bringing the Lombardi home. As I reflect back to the glory days of Emmit, Troy, and the Playmaker, Jerry let Jimmy Johnson take us from 0-16 to a 3-time champion. I sincerely think it would have been at least 5-rings total had Jerry not let his ego get into the way and firing Jimmy.

Since Jimmy, the only credible coach we had was Bill Parcells who Jerry essentially got rid of. We've since had coaches like Chan Gailey, Barry Switzer, and now Wade. I was thoroughly disappointed that he didn't get Dom Capers or someone like him because I frankly don't believe in Wade.

I think the reason why we won't see a legitimate coach (with a backbone) on our sidelines because of Jerry. We have the talent to win all, but until we get a coach that will instill some discipline in this team I'm afraid we won't go far. I think that falls on Jerry - the real problem with our Cowboys. :(

Why can't we just let this season play out before assigning blame?

Because we've already let 12 seasons play out.

The blame falls squarely on Jerry's shoulders. That's not even debatable. He assembled both the team and the coaching staff, and put himself in a position in which all the credit (and the blame) could be assigned to him.

At this point, Jerry's task is to prove that he's changed, that he's capable of building a playoff-winning team.

THE problem? No

A problem? Yes

The solution? Deal with it, cuz he isn't going anywhere for a while, and he sure isn't going to change the way he does things at his age. He tried doing it a little differently when he brought in Parcells, and the results weren't much different than before. I doubt he'd do that again.

I don't think Jerry Jones absolves himself of blame. I believe fans do a better job of that than he does. I actually think he's hard on himself, but too often his ego won't let him admit he needs help and a lot of it.

I typically agree with the majority of your posts, and this is no different. I do think that things will change once again. Just as he swallowed his pride and brought in Parcells, I think he'll do the same and bring in Shanahan. If we can lock in a good D coordinator, the rest will take care of itself.

Untill the rabid *** fans who drool over ever spoken word of every Cowboy come to grips with reality..this team is a .500 team..They can beat up on weak teams, but solid teams will beat them every time. Jerry doesn't have to spend any money fielding a winner...104,000 come anyway. Jerry's an entertainer, not a football man....aka the T&A dancers.
