Smoke screen to CD. Good idea. That should be in lances package of 8-10 plays as they bring him along slowly and get him game reps.
In the history of the Dallas Cowboys, multiple starting quarterbacks has never carried the field beyond injury periods.

So do I, when he's ready to lead the Cowboys and top of the list.
Dak fans have been Dak over Dallas for 7 years now.

You don’t get to just flip flop now that your boy is on the way out.

We don’t forget the insults, name calling, and down right disrespect we received for telling y’all this was going to happen.

Unless Dak performs 5 stars this coming season and we make at least the NFCCG Dak is following Zeke as a pre-June 1st 2024 cut.
I mean what has Dak done to warrant another massive extension?
Folks come back to planet Earth, please!!!!

It's missing the dead cap of 36mil with a June 1st cut in 2024 for the year 2025, the same year Lance is an UFA, re-signed or given the 5th year tender of ~22mil.
Pre or post cut, the Cowboys will be eating 60mil of cap over 1 year or two years.
Also, that cap savings won't appear till June 1st, so the Cowboys will have to restructure quite a few contracts to start re-signing guys- which is what they do anyways, but more of an early emphasis will need to be done if they go the cut route with Prescott.

I'm not someone who is on the re-sign Prescott at all cost bandwagon, but IMO the team did those restructures to re-sign him in 2024 to keep the "savings" rolling. I mean, it would have to be an absolute collapse for Prescott not to be re-signed by the Jones duo.

LOL, CC you are not right!
There's no right way to do the wrong thing!

It's the start of a new season...and there is NO blame until it's now earned.

A franchise doesn't remain the most valuable sports franchise in the world by being stupid for over 7 years. Respect is earned and that dignity is for all participants due to standards involved.

Jerry still does it the old fashioned way...by earning it. And that goes to his efforts at winning...he's fully committed there as well!!

That applied when Service connected and it applied in Law Enforcement as well...those lessons are hard earned and not just talk developed on amusement levels.

This team has survived from when the President was assassinated as well...in Dallas.

Stop reading so much that’ts not there into things. Dallas has been trying to draft a talented young QB for several years but it has never aligned in the draft. They were not looking for 6th and 7th round guys. So one day San Fran calls to talk about Trey Lance and the asking price is a mid round pick. Jerry made the deal right then and there. He didn’t want to hang up without a deal because he knew SF was calling around and he would lose the chance if he wasted time or tried to play hardball. There was no time to talk to anyone and still get the type of QB they had been looking for. It’s that simple. It was a phone call and Jerry wanted it done before hanging up. He already knew McCarthy and the personnel guys were on board with getting a young talented QB and they had a 2nd round grade on Lance coming out. It was a no brainer chance and he took it.
This is the best answer I've seen in this thread.

I mean isn’t it obvious he “earned” his contract without that top flight OL and RG, with his 2017 season, particularly when Zeke was suspended, and in 2018 without Amari with his Quincy Carter records of futility, along with his “elite” performance against Wentz in 2019 to get eliminated from playoff contention, putting up only like 9 pts while throwing over 40 times against third-string DBs in that game..

The way you put it and what I’ve read, this sounds like the most plausible explanation.

Just leave me out of your created crap list...I talk issues, not stereotype. I haven't attacked your issue, just your label. Get off an issue dead until the season starts...we're all going to die. You predicting that as well? You are on a fan board, not a mortuary net. You don't listen. No Jerry or Dak is involved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I DON'T have to accept bias stereotyping. That isn't MY creation. Talk football and not convenience of excuses. I could care less how many descriminations are being hidden behind any excuses for play. It is NOW a NEW season. Leave ME out of YOUR excuses!

The Cowboys WILL BE FINE!

Now, who will be the starting quarterback for the Cardinals? How will the passing game for the Giants be?

Start providing some real issues in the now, and answering some of the real questions...or put me on ignore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget the $36M in dead money the following year also (regardless of whether he is cut or plays out the deal). If people are worried about Dak's dead money they shouldn't blame Dak, they should blame Jerry and Stephen for the restructures that created all this dead money. IMO Dak will earn his contract this year or he won't get an extension and then the same thing will happen the next year with a new deal. We will deal with the dead money one way or the other. Micah and CeeDee's contract won't be an issue because the 2024 cap hits will be small in their extensions. But Jerry isn't likely to cut Dak and let's see how this year goes before we cry about how we should ad nauseum and let's at least pretend to actually root for this team.

This also goes along with the “cheap” strategy Dallas is trying to develop. Constantly having a young QB waiting in line to develop would create contract leverage too. Imagine a starting QB trying like Dak trying to ask for 60 million when they got a promising QB in the wings. Does one think they’ll be able to keep that young guy on the bench?

The downside to this, besides the fact it’s hard to find good QBs, is no elite QB would want to play in Dallas in such a “disrespectful” situation. But we don’t have a that type of QB here anyways

Typical cowboys, when trying to get a deal done, Jerry has to make headlines. Things were going well, we made quiet moves, but all of a sudden the typical BOOM from the Cowboys front office. Jerry not consulting with Dak over Lance, I see BIG NEWS coming to somehow squash the drama.

I don't know why it has to be this way, I expect a new Dak deal to get done soon. Jerry will make it seem like there was never an issue, but he has to create one first.

If I'm wrong, then there's much more to talk about. But so far, we have a bad way of negotiating! Please give your thoughts
I for one hate when teams feel the need to conuslt with their players about bringing in a backup. Why to people even make a big deal out of this? Players play, Coaches coach, and Jerry does stupid Jerry ****.

And on the move it is more impactful for Grier (as already seen) and Rush. It's not a Dak issue.

I’m more than willing to let bygones be bygones.

All ya gotta do is admit you were wrong about Dak and apologize for treating those right about Dak with disrespect.

It's smart to acquire young talent at QB for many reasons, which of those reasons proves to be the most valuable is something we can't know yet but there's an element of truth to each of these arguments,,, as for the drama? If anything this leverage and competition is needed and a little "drama" shouldn't derail a strong competitor.

We know who the Dak over Dallas fans are/were.

You can’t escape it.

You chose Dak over your credibility.
No, I didn’t, Mr. Troll. But my credibility is fine with those that matter. Maybe your team will have success this year. Eagles? Giants? Skins? Steelers?

When you say “we”, do you mean you and the half dozen super trolls in your jammies in Mom’s basement, reeking of urine and Hot Pockets? Do you have a D&D-like subculture with your own private little forum? Do you think you have power and influence?

Jerry doesnt have to consult with Dak over Lance

The writing is clear you dont bring in a 23 year old thats drafted 3rd overall for no reason

Dak can get it done or haul hindpotts
