I wish no ill-will towards Justin Blackmon and I hope the young man gets his act together. However, I find it ironic how at one point, he was being touted as everything Dez Bryant was supposed to be and more. Notwithstanding the brush-ups Dez has had in the past, but it reminds me that you just never know how these things turn out until they actually happen. Here's to continued hope that Dez continues to figure things out. *crosses fingers*

As the saying goes "Never judge a book by it's cover", as for Blackmon the guy is a great talent and I hope he puts it all together soon.

I remember when people saying that he was the good guy that Dez wasn't how wrong they were and Dez, does has his faults too but a DUI isn't one of them at the moment and I say at the moment because alot of players get caught in that situation sometimes.

I think some have blown Dez issues out of proportion, I really do not see him as a problem player. I think he entered the NFL as immature kid but I think he has grown as a person and a player.

I agree. To my knowledge dez never had drug issues himself. He was just a kid that thought it was cool to be a thug like a lot of dumb kids these days. I can't wait for that trend to end.

i think that already ended. kids these days are pretty boys and wear skinny jeans and dont workout to get big anymore (circa late 80s-00s.)

its more obvious in the "rap" music that is out now a days as well. its all about partying and getting wasted, not so much drug dealing, killing, and success (money/women/etc)

Well with Dez it wasn't that he was getting in trouble all the time. It was the big fear would be how would he react once given that 60 to 70 million plus contract. And it seemed like while the problems he was having were very small incidents and nothing worth losing sleep over people felt it was just the beginning. I never had that concern. I never saw a history of Dez failing drug tests or having DUI's so I was never worried about him.

Given the family he grew up in frankly it is a shock he has not been in trouble and that he has made it this far in his life. Talk about having the cards stacked against you. Only problems I have seen is immaturity but over the last year I have also seen growth in him both as a person and a player.

We all make mistakes it is what we learn from our mistake as to not repeat them that is key.

Justin Blackmon was said to be Dez Bryant without the issues.. The truth of the matter however is that just from a physical and a football standpoint I don't think Blackmon is ever close to Dez.

Dez is a more physical player with better deep speed who is much more dangerous after the catch.. Dez also has better body control and can meet the ball at the highest point much more effectively than Blackmon.. Dez's ceiling could be 1600 yards and 15 TD's where as I think Blackmon's ceiling is probably something like a 1100 yard 9 TD season.

As for the personal issues I think Dez's problems were and way overblown for a variety of reasons one being the fact that he is a more high profile player.. especially being with the Cowboys.

Dez may be more "hood" than blackmon and Dez really does come from some unfortunate situations but Dez has never had a problem with drugs or drinking..

I think it is pretty ironic how the "Dez without the issues" not only had an underwhelming rookie season if you exclude 1 game vs the texans but has also already been suspended while Dez who you would think by the media attention has been suspended for an entire season by now has never been held out of a game for anything other than injury
