I was just listening to 105.3 the Fan & Brad Sham and interesting they brought up the question is Turpin a lock to make the roster? Interestingly,, Its a contract year for Turpin and what has he shown us lately. Was he a difference maker last year..Nope....I mean, he does two basic things, runs a jet sweep and is one of the highest paid special team players in the NFL. There is not much that Turpin does that cant be replaced by someone else... Does Turpin do anything better, I dont think so,has teams caught on how the Cowboys use him (yeah) or has Turpin lost a step because the cat is out of the bag with Turpin that shiny new player has slowed down and is becoming irrelevant .

Either way, IMO Turpin could be a surprise cut or trade as he is replaceable

The guy didn’t play in a preseason game because he is a lock. Someone has to take his job and I’ve yet to see someone do it.

NO

Bet?

He will be on the roster in the same capacity he was last year, book it,

he will not be gone thus he does something crazy off the field you know something strange something outside of football It does happen but no he will not be cut. NOPE

We're talking far too much about this just because of what you think you're seeing from the other receivers who don't do what he does ,

He literally had some of the longest plays from scrimmage last year on the offense, he's a gadget player but he also in the return game you think that he's fell off and he didn't there just wasn't as good at blocking and everyone is calling for the special teams cause to be fired last year because nothing looks special and it was more because of injuries That's right the injuries on the defense affect the depth that you can use people on special teams so we'll see what it looks like this year but he's the same old Turpin and he has a unique niche job on this team that not one person has proven they can do and he's done it in a regular season not practice not camp and not fake games that by the way he didn't play in that's all you need to know he's a starter he has a role and he has a spot

I don’t understand the Turpin hate…..he’s on the team for what he can potentially offer as a returner. Other teams have to think about kicking the ball to him. He’s still an asset to have for that reason.
Exactly!

The guy is a 3-time Pro Bowl returner!

In his 4 years in the league, the man has made the Pro Bowl 3 times!

I am fine with Turpin on the team. He can be a dynamic return guy.
I think they over used him on offense though, trying to get him more involved in the offense. To justify his contract.
He had 2 fumbles though.
They can make great use of him as we seen some of the plays he can make.

I would also be ok if he was traded. But very doubtful they do.

Turpin and Dak will be cut after preseason. Matter of fact, all players that won’t suit up for preseason will be cut.

Correct It doesn't even make sense they think that somehow some young players who have never done anything in the NFL who are lighting it up in camp big bodied receivers who are threatening each other they're not threatening Turpin and it's not just his returnability do people not realize that he's had some of the biggest plays on offense as far as yards from scrimmage or air yards They're not often but that's what he is WR4 He is cemented into that spot until someone may be blue somebody can take over It's a gadget niche spot on offense that cannot also be replaced just by anybody he's not the fastest dudes on the team..

He's under contract he's not going anywhere brown and Mingo are fighting each other they're fighting others on the bottom of this roster because this is set right now on offense nothing's changing from last year

I guarantee the same players outside of Hoffman and maybe Scoon Maker might find his way off this roster it's gonna be the same as last year the starting lineup the way they rotate the special packages which includes Turpin.

How many balls do they think can go around to guys like Lamb and Pickens ferguson Ford the running backs out of the backfield and now Flo he's going to get into picture, Show me So what they think brown and Mingo somehow gonna find their way as outside receivers to push those groups for targets in any real games they might not even be active for games yes they've deserved to get on this roster but it's not taking turpins place turpin will be back...

Now I can see next year if somehow they can develop Blue or Israel I'm a call him Izzy into return guys who are effective that don't fumble that don't muff punts and kicks and that can also break a big play every now and again that is what Turpin does Nobody else on this team can do what he does...

If we had another younger guy that looked like a threat on the return game, then maybe.
But we don't.

I think some are eyeing Turpin cause he's limited in the passing game and we always get these shiny UDFA guys that some fall in love with.

Would you like to count up Ferguson's fumbles how about that game with George Pickens let balls bounce off his hands and turn into interceptions the same with flow the same with williams didn't sanderers fumbles on the 5 yeard line,

How about we count up all the drops from CD lamb I mean is that what you're pointing out that he made some mistakes that everybody on the team had the ability to make at least one mistake last year like that even Blue fumbled once last year, Was in very limited time but got hit just right on the ball i'm sorry dude people are trying to make reasons that Turpin shouldn't be here when their main reason he's here is because nobody else can do what he does not it's just a returner this man behind the line of scrimmage as a running back type gadget player and some of his catches were the longest plays from scrimmage the last two years both in yards and air yards II don't think people get that nobody can replace him brown and Mingo are great but that's not who they're competing with They're gonna be competing with the starting three receivers we already have that play outside or in the slot...

I don't think there is any chance they cut him. I just don't want him wasting reps on offense. It's predictable and generally a waste. Let a real receiver take those snaps.

No jet sweeps anymore. Ever.

BINGO

:hammer: And it's not like Turpin's not making big plays he's doing exactly what they're asking him to do He has some of the longest air yards and and yards from scrimmage some of the biggest plays last year he was involved in..

He has a cemented role that nobody's even challenging right now I don't care how good Smith or Brown or Mingo look those are not the types that can be regular returners or do what he does from WR4 the gadget plays reverses bubble screens and other screens and things that that are happening behind the line of scrimmage as well as the big plays he is really fast..

I mean the Cowboys could groom Israel or Blue and try to get them there but they are not ready I think people underestimate how hard it is to catch a punt and some of the kicks and make sure you catch it and can every now and again threaten for a big play..

The only way Turpin is not on the roster is if he gets injured, arrested or caught with Stephen's wife...
