I thought that would catch some eyes.

Missed first 3 quarters of last night's Philly vs Skins game. Woke up when I heard announcers talking about how bad Eagle WRs were.

Admittedly I don't know anything about their current WRs and maybe all of last WRs left the team since 06 season ended. However, with Jeff Garcia at QB last year he sure managed to find a lot of open WRs -- enough that they ended up in the playoffs. Part of that of course was that they really used their running game & that combined with Garcia's play worked out well for them unfortunately.

McNabb isn't well enough to be playing and Reid is a fool for doing so. He's also a fool for allowing McNabb is throw the ball so many times. Westbrook should have been a major weapon last night. But then again I missed almost the whole game so maybe using Westbrook was his game plan but the spoke fell off the wheel.

BTW: I saw the NO Saints - Tampa game on Sunday and Jeff Garcia combined with Joey Galloway sure looked good to me. Garcia wanted to stay in Philly even as McNabb's backup. Does anybody think last night's game would have ended differently if that had been the case?

He's clearly not healthy and his WR's are, and have been, terrible. Put the 2 together, and you get a pretty unaffective passing game. He looked as bad as I've ever seen him.

Last year McNabb was also able to find open receivers. Of course he was healthy to start the year. He is not healthy now.

2006 season:

Completion Percentage

57.0% McNabb
61.7% Garcia

Yards per Attempt
8.4 McNabb
7.0 Garcia

Yards per Completion
14.7 McNabb
11.3 Garcia

Percentage of TDs per Pass Attempt
5.7% McNabb
5.3% Garcia

Percentage of INTs per Pass Attempt
1.9% McNabb
1.1% Garcia

QB Rating
95.53 McNabb
95.81 Garcia

McNabb was as an effective passer last year as Garcia and McNabb was asked to do a lot more. Reid started to get Westbrook involved in the game a lot more when Garcia was the QB. Something like 5 more carries per game. The Philly defense also started playing better later in the season.

Right now Philly is struggling behind a less than 100% McNabb. That is fine by me, but I won't count them out until Dallas is able to beat them twice.

I agree. One of his biggest assest was the ability to buy time with his legs and right now he looks slow and sluggish out there add to it there seems to be a lack of trust between him and the WR and Philly has some problems. Right now the Philly D looks good enough to keep them in games but unless the offense turns around I don't think that D will be able to maintain their play through out the season.

Last year their O Line was flat out dominant...That same group has been sluggish to start the season. Washington was getting pressure with a 4 man rush. GB and Wash both played press coverage on the outside guys. No one open on 3 step drops. McNabb was not very accurate at all. I see a very beatable team in Philly. Stop Westbrook = Beat Philly.

Andy Reid is also a culprit. I don't know why they run more when McNabb is not under center.

Jeff Garcia had success throwing to alot of those same people last yr, and they added Kevin Curtis, which supposedly was a "great" find by the Eagles front office

then you have to remember AJ Feely going undefeated and playing extremely well with what was supposed to be lesser receivers

the bad wr thing is really getting tired with him...he just isnt that good...those "terrible" wr's did get open alot last night, McChunky either didnt see them or threw a horrible pass alot of times

It's just people parroting what they heard the whole game from Jaworksi. Of course he's going to make excuses for McChunk, he's the biggest Eagles homer out there.

Mcnabb had open receivers plenty of times. He also had one on one coverage on just about every play. You've got to make something happen. He was throwing passes high and into the dirt more times than not.

it was hilarious on that one play where Jaworski was running on and one about nobody being open, then replay showing the Eagle guy WIDE OPEN inside the 10 with NOBODY near him...McFlabb never looked his way, even with plenty of time

Read my post again David - I said that was as bad as I've ever seen him play.

McNabb also had success throwing to a lot of those same people last year. Just like Garcia That was last year. This is now and McNabb is not healthy. When you don't have your legs under you, your passing is going to suffer. Aikman's passing suffered when he endured leg and back problems. Most QBs do. I don't see that changing much this year.

He probably will not be 100% healthy until next season. It has not even been a full year since he suffered the injury. People kept asking last year why Flozell Adams did not look good and that was because he was not a full year removed from his injury until part way through the season.

I don't know if McNabb will ever truly recover, but some act as if he was the worse QB of all time. The guy has done well with crappy receivers his whole career.

With the quality of his offensive line going down hill and the quality of his receivers going down hill, so is McNabb. It's a race to the bottom between the Giants and Eagles this season.

DM has always been a Good QB. Going back to days throwing to Marvin in college. He's not healthy and he cries too much. Get out of Philly if you can't stand the heat.

You guys gotta give credit where it is due.
The Commanders showed a great defensive effort against the Eagles.

However, Haven't all of us called him McTurf, McFlab, etc., over the years in spite of the teams success ?

Except that Garcia won when McNabb couldn't. The Eagles were 5-5 when McNabb started and 5-1 when Garcia started last season. McNabb was more effective at losing. He is showing that pro bowl level skill this season too.

Telling stat of the day brought to you by Mcfagg... He lost 6 of his last 7 starts. Only 2 of which are in this new season (so therefore directly related to the injury) so I think something other than his injury is going on with the eagles. But he looked bad last night. Really bad.

You just barely beat the dolphins. We beat them down.
You just barely beat the Eagles... a team with ZERO weapons.

A GREAT defensive effort? against what the Eagles put on the field last night? ok, yeah GREAT. You survived.

A healthy McNabb wins that game by himself.

One of the things I'm seeing pop up on Eagles boards is that McNabb has not been hitting receivers in the numbers for quite some time, and Garcia was while he was playing. If true, that's a telling statistic.

One of the funnier comments I saw about the lack of slants:

Maniac: What happened to the slant pattern? I thought that was bread and butter of the WCO?

Ellsworth: Reid and Co stopped calling those after the 1st one was thrown 150mph by donovan right into the crowd and killed an elderly man in the 2nd row.
