Is Morris Claiborne being Shopped?

I don't think Claiborne is that bad. It hard enough to come in as new guy and succeed at CB, but with a change in scheme, a couple nagging injuries and an overall terrible defense, it was nearly impossible. Hopefully they can play more man-press next year and Carr and Claiborne can use their talents better.

I still don't think he will ever be the guy that we traded a 2nd pick for, but he is not worth dumping.

It. really isnt that hard to come in immediately and make plays if you are worth a damn at corner. See Peterson, Woodson, Revis, even Newman. Claiborne sucks right now and excuses like these are tired.

Claiborne has no top end athletic abilities. I dont know where people are thinking that he is gonna suddenly switch "on" and turn into Pat peterson.

Those guys all took their licks. Peterson was abused his rookie year.

But Claiborne's strengths are supposedly in man, a scheme we have used very little.

Neither of those statements are true. Get him healthy and put him in a scheme he can play. He proved his athletic ability already that is why he was so highly regarded out of college.

He was never considered to be a fast corner and I was never impressed with his play at LSU. He has been soft since he was drafted and is well on his way to being one of the biggest bust in team history considering the cost in the draft that Jerry gave. It will surprise me if he has the career that OScan has had in Dallas.

It would me. He has the talent and I believe Marinelli will finally use him right and put him in position to succeed if he can stay healthy.

Its all IF with Mo. He was NOT an elite athlete. Compare Mo to Peterson and it isnt even close.

The fact that this is being asked whether it's true or not tells you what a disappointment Claiborne has been. If the injuries continue in 2014 and his play doesn't improve the next time we see a thread like this it won't be a rumor.

Exactly............even if it is a rumor, the fact that we are actually debating if it could be true or not of a player we gave up a 1st and a 2nd for tells you all you need to know.

Funny... I remember Scandrick 'sucking' and people upset that Jerry gave him that big contract. I remember people actually wanting Dez Bryant traded and calling him dumb and saying how he didn't know his routes. Hmm, maybe when you give guys time to develop, they actually start playing a lot better.

Scandrick is still nothing more than average. It really says how bad Mo is when the comparison is made. Every year, it seems Mo is regressing and will be known as a bust.

I'd like to see one more season from Mo before making a judgement. There are many reasons (excuses) for his sub par play in his first two seasons but I tend to be more patient with certain positions, like corner. I'm holding out hope that he can be a good corner for the Boys.

What's it going to be then, eh?

So it is the scheme?

All CBs that are worth anything should be able to play press or zone.

The scheme is not the problem when a player is deficient in one type of coverage versus another.

Putting MO and Carr in zone coverage defense was a mistake. Instead of playing to their strengths we played to the weakness.

Good coaching = playing a scheme that fits your players' skill sets. I'm not saying scheme is the only reason Mo struggled, but it's hard to deny that it didn't play a role.

"All CBs that are worth anything should be able to play press or zone" = false

Yeah that quote is spoken from someone who doesn't understand the position and had never played.

Far from average. He's an extremely productive CB that allows us to address other positions because there isn't a question of whether or not we need to replace him.
