Is our offensive scheme helpful to Trey Lance

We don't know what we have in Lance because he hasn't been given a fair chance at all....needs some PT...and he will get it this preseason...so it will be interesting to see how he performs. But we do know he is athletic and a passer. So that's a great start. That will be the one thing i will be watching in TC and PS.

The Niners new what they had in Trance and punted on 2nd down.

I agree let's see, then if he falters Dak can proceed to not worry about his stay in dallas lol

Sounds like a great investment into something we know nothing about, that will not play on his last year of his contract. Pretty sure we knew that he would not play when we made the trade.

Of all the scouting reports I’ve read on Lance or info I’ve heard from others (like his head coach in college), a lack of intelligence and being unable to go through his progressions weren’t in any of them, they were seen as strengths. So I don’t think “dumbing down” the offense is something that will apply to him. That doesn’t mean he’ll succeed — even McCarthy said he was green — because the most important things for a young NFL QB outside of the physical is to see the speed of the game slow down, know “NFL-open”, and be mentally tough to handle the pressure. All of this requires playing time and reps.

It seems that Trey Lance is at his best when he's able to use his legs. Now, he does have a big arm, i'm sure he's working on some other fine tuning things of his game. With that said, is this offense beneficial to his growth, and to make him shine in games using his abilities. We like to use a lot of Shotgun, would we be better using more RPO's etc to help him/QB draws. I think plays like these would highlight the skills he does well, showing us how good he can be. I still would like to see him pass the ball, we have to get the ball down the field to our weapons Lamb/Cooks/Ferg etc. Please give your thoughts on our offense, and how you think it benefits Lance or could hinder him....
so essentially you are saying we need a scheme that has a RB disguised as a QB. which RB playing QB has found success. I will wait for you to do a research.

not at all if that's what gets you happy, I guess you can tell the idiots in Baltimore not to do that with Lamar! We want him to be a passer first, but i'm just saying is our offense that was constructed with dak in mind, good enough for lance. Hell for dak we barely use bootlegs and have him use plays that get him to use his legs. EVERY play doesn't have to be a designed QB draw

QBs job is to pass. survey the field, go through his read and pass the ball. one thing that everyone complains about Dak. Lance hasn't shown he can read a defense, make the right reads and make the throws. running and escaping is secondary and only sign of a weak offensive team and a weak QB. the best of the lot is Lamar and he hasn't accomplished much and is 2-4 in the playoffs. just one loss better than Dak.

Lance is not good enough. as opposed to the offense being good enough for lance.

I'm not saying Lance has to be the starter, but give him some reps, I'm also fine if they draft a QB that would REALLY shake some things up

what purpose? we do need to know if he is worth it, but do we give him reps at the end of blow outs? what do we discover. in order for us to know about him, he has to get meaningful reps in games that matter. do we trust him?

The question is are some confident enough in Trey Lance's abilities and potential to the point of being willing to see the front office forgo drafting another QB in the first round in order to give Trey Lance as few seasons as the starter. Since some fans believe that he still has the skills and the ability to be a first round. high pick QB closer to what we have seen first round QB's like Burrow, Allen, etc do.

They won't limit him to the Dak offense

There's only three preseason games now, so the Cowboys need to play Lance, start to finish, in each one.

Not only do they need to see him in this offense, the kid needs reps. He's hardly played any football at all since 2020, which is insane to think about.

What's the "Dak offense"? The one so dumbed down the Cowboys have consistently been at or near the top of the NFL in yards and points per game?

I understand we need more from him in the playoffs but some of this criticism is so narrative-based it leaves facts out in the cold.
