Is our opening even attractive anymore?

Even with the added bonus of no state tax it’s still not attractive. That speaks volumes!

If you are a coach, ultimately what you want is simply another contract.
yes, any good coach wants to think that his tenure with an organization will showcase his talents & thus he has a good chance of being more respected than when he took the job.

this job almost absolutely assures the coach will be viewed as less desirable.

as others have said, this is only a position for someone only concerned with a paycheck or so low in the pecking order that they have no other opportunities to achieve the title.

It doesn’t matter. Jerry will get who he wants and that is all that really counts.
You have that right. Jerry's not interested in the hottest new coach. He's interested in retreads and former players. You know coaches that nothing to lose.

Knowing you have a owner that won't let you do what you need to build a winning program, how is it that these men are going through the interview process with an owner who wants all the spotlight and attention on him!?? Please give your thoughts
Our opening, and what position on staff is yours, now?

Related experience is a looked for straight through all teams. But not in discussion by some on site...no, Jerry fully discusses potential members at all levels. He doesn't mine for gold unrehearsed, without practical experience, nor naive.

My thoughts are that it is all Fake News obviously, not a single shred of truth. As Parcells once said, You have been Sucked!

Every NFL coaching gig is extremely attractive due to the limited number of openings.

That said, Dallas is one of the least attractive spots. If you are a coach, ultimately what you want is simply another contract. If you come in to Dallas, you are set up to fail and then take the blame for it. That's a good way to drastically shorten your career.

Think about Pittsburgh versus Dallas. The Steelers set up their coaches for success and support them. If you are good, its practically a lifetime gig. Why would anyone choose Dallas over Pittsburgh if both positions were available?
$6M for an employment position is toting a few potatoes in today's job market. Sorry. Bar Tender next in line?

Dallas HC position is still attractive for coaches with limited options. The top tier coaches would not touch the Dallas front office with a 10ft pole.

But a retread or 1st time HC candidate will be the most attractive option for Darth Leatherface. Someone with a weak "yes man" mentality is the only type who can work under Jerrys thumb.

This is the Dallas paradox. A weak minded retread will not be innovative or have the mental acuity to accomplish a culture change in Dallas. A strong or innovative could bring real change and playoff success but they could not gel with Jerrys narcissistic personality which will only tolerate a puppet coach. Yet Dallas fans crave success which they will never achieve due to the paradox in the front office.

It's the Dallas Cowboys. If you are a coach that likes lots of attention and TV time, you would love to coach the Cowboys. Plus, there is the history of the Cowboys, the stadium, the facilities, and no state income taxes.

But on the issue of substance, like salary CAP, management cohesion, authority, certain player contracts, and, of course, the bordering on senile owner, I think it is a terrible situation.

Some coaches may look at it and think, they have a QB, a defensive star, and some young pieces, plus they are coming off a year with so many injuries. Perhaps it is a quick turnaround in Dallas. I don't think it's the great situation that existed when Jimmy Johnson left, but I can see why some coaches would take the job.

it is not. coaches want to win a championship. money is the business part of it, but they are wired like great athletes and winning is everything to most. in Dallas, they won't have that opportunity, because everyone and I mean everyone in NFL knows Jerry and his meddlesome ways. I mean, he wants to give an inventive laden contract to a coach, but make personnel decisions like bringing in Zeke and demanding he starts. replacing two veterans on the OL with two rookies and draft players like Mazi and sign DTs that don't belong in the league any more. no good coach would agree to come here, because dallas is not winning any championships as long as the Joneses own the cowboys

We;; there is only 32 of these jobs so if your aim is to coach in the NFL you would have some interest in any of the vacant positions.Dallas isn't necessarily the coveted position for established coaches.
