Is Passing on DGB Like Passing on Randy Moss Again?

I gotta tell you. I have been messing around with the FanSpeak draft simulator all night and every time I see him I am so tempted. Him paired with Dez would be positively scary. My other concern is pretty simple; I do not want the Eagles to get him. When they pick in the second round, I hold my breath. He would make that Eagles offense much harder to defend.

What would be his draft projection if he didn't have the character issues? Top 10?

Struggles with press coverage, terrible route runner, smallish hands, worst vertical of all WRs.
But he is 6'5 and ran a 4.35 forty in shorts

Maybe he'll end up great, but there are a TON of uber talented WRs this year.

I think he's super talented and has a good chance to be really good. Just worried about the red flags. Seems to be good value at 27 based on talent.

In his defense, we're only able to assess him through his true Soph year at Missouri.

I will say for a much bigger player, he doesn't have the catch radius Dez has and doesn't go up and get it at the highest point. Surprised his hands are small, as he definitely has good hands.

Our visiting with Dorial Green-Beckham surprised me. Admittedly, they might be talking to him for far, far down the road. However, we also brought in Devin Smith, so maybe our interest is legit for a WR that creates match up nightmares. Currently, CBS has him as the 32nd rated player so he's a prospect for 27.

Is the team thinking back to the Randy Moss/Greg Ellis decision and choosing the safe player instead of the unique difference maker?

With a more stable vet team that's all football, maybe they feel we're in a better position to take on a DGB. If DGB gets his stuff together, he’s a once-a-generation player.

Assume Gurley, Gordon, Mal Brown, Kevin Johnson, and Byron Jones are gone. It’s between Odighizuwa, Marcus Peters, Ron Darby, Eli Harold, Eric Kendricks, Ereck Flowers, Tevin Coleman, and Eddie Goldman.

If DGB became Randy Moss and you passed for an above average defensive player, would you rue?

He could be really good, but he is not a generational type player. He probably not the best talent in this draft at WR.

Having said that, he is fun to watch. He has surprising quickness and agility. They like to throw him those quick screens and he is surprisingly good at eluding tackles.

He has a number of issues. He drops ball that he should catch. His catch radius is not really what you expect for his size and he's not as good at contested balls as expected.

Randy Moss was on another level. He was way faster than DBG, was better catching the ball and better coming down with contested catches. On strictly talent he is either #1 or #2 all time.

Think of it this. If we apply the same logic ( we need X position, not WR) for passing on a DGB to the 2010 draft, we draft Roger Saffold in the first and not Dez Bryant

but in 2010, we were drafting for a #1 WR, in 2015, at best, we would be drafting for a #2 WR with our #1 already on the team

If we're going to take a WR, I'd rather take Devin Smith at #60.

He would be neck and neck with Cooper if it wasnt for the character issues. Far better then White IMO

Completely disagree.

Green-Beckham's production over two years literally didn't match White's last year alone.

I dont think DGB is in the same zip code talent wise as Moss. Moss one of the bet to ever play IMO.

Moss was by far the best WR in his class and ended up being a HOF level player.

There's a chance, DGB is not even the 4th or 5th best WR in just this class. That's not to say he isnt very talented, but this class is loaded.

Yeah this guy is no Moss. Not even close. Moss in COLLEGE was must-see television. An event. He was that impressive. DGB in college was a pretty good WR. While DGB has some rare physical skills, it's a severe stretch to compare his impact to that of Moss when he may not be a top 3 WR in his draft class.

Some people don't realize what freak Moss was.

I mean, think about this, his vertical jump at 51 was 1 1/2 FEET higher than DGBs.
He was also a low 4.2 forty guy who never dropped a pass.
Outerworldly talent.
