I'm sure nearly all Cowboys fans wished Emmitt Smith the best when he was a Cardinal.

Not sure why, but I found Torrin Tucker and Rob Pettite to be sympathetic characters. Tucker seemed to have the potential. It would have been nice to see him "get it" even if not as a Cowboy.

Petitte was a hard worker, thrust into the starting line-up far before he was ready. Sure, I wish him the best.

Sometimes players have to bounce around the league a little before they mature and/or figure things out.

If AB develops into a top-flight WR, it doesn't mean that the Cowboys were wrong in letting him go. Could be that he simply needed to bounce around a little, hear different versions of the same advice from different people, before it finally clicked with him.

That's pretty much how I feel. Good post.

You want them to do well as a Cowboy and when they cannot, you wish them well in their future playing career, unless when they play the Cowboys. Nothing more, nothing less.

Those that flushed away their careers, no names to be mentioned, I try to keep it humanistic and hope they someday get it.

Gee, the Cowboys were doing okay until FLOZELL was injured.

Look, I loved the idea of Pettiti being a Dallas tackle for years to come, but face it - anyone that's a second day draft pick is a project player. These things happen for a reason. Obviously, there was something we didn't see.

This is just not true! Just ask some of the people on this board. They see inside of BP's head and can tell you exactly what he was thinking. It had nothing to do with talent. It had all to do with Bill being stubborn and punishing Jerry for letting him draft him....uh, wait.....:laugh2:

What is ludicrous is drafting a project player and only give him one year to develop.

Not if he doesn't develop, or if a better project (McQ) comes along.

I cannot understand why people would waste mental energy hoping he does.

He's gone.

And since he's gone, any success he has would note that the organization made a serious error in judgment.

So, let's all wish him well. That sounds like a smashing idea.

How many of you wish Ebenezer Ekuban good luck in Denver? Who shed a tear about Torrin Tucker being cut by Tampa?

I bet if either of these player's fathers had posted here, you might care more.

Come'on A you know as well as I do that much of Petitti/Pittdawg thing was a sort of "celebrity worship" thing. For many it was their chance to get "close" to one of their hero's-- a real Dallas Cowboy. It's almost a religious type of thing for some.

I'm not saying it's good, bad or indifferent-- just very understandable.

And that's exactly what happened.

After Colombo won the RT position it was down to Petitti and McQ for the back-up LT position. It appears that McQ had far more potential as a starting LT. I don't lament Petitti's being cut-- I applaud the organization for apparently finding a potential "gem" in McQ. Heck if he turns out to be an above average LT I'll be thrilled with that.

Hmm is this guy still in the NFL, LMAOO!

You know how I characterize people who know nothing about football? Every player is either ALL good or ALL bad. Nothing in the middle.

Absolutely... but what's wrong with that?

A lot of people, including yourself, spend a lot of time on this board, and it's natural to develop friendly feelings towards others who post here, even if you've never met them.

There are people here who I consider friends, even though I wouldn't recognize them if they walked into my office right now. Maybe that's strange, but I think it's understandable.

This is a community, albeit a digital one, and Pittdawg was a part of it, and it was nice to have him here and root on his son in the process.

I just don't see why someone needs to defend themselves for liking Pettitti because his dad posted here? It's a very natural reaction. No one is saying we should have kept him for that reason, but it's perfectly normal to wonder how he's doing and wish him the best.

oh bullcrap.

drew bouncing passes left and right played a huge role.
not enough *overall* focus on the OL played a huge role.
(you can't start a rookie 7th round draft pick for 16 games unless you did some serious pooch-screwin before that)
not enough *overall* focus on the O cause BP was too wrapped up in his pet D projects
(ever notice he'll churn DEs and DLs like no tomorrow but he won't put the same energy on the OL?)
thinking Flo was a solid "anchor" screwed up our season last year
(who cares he got hurt - 1 man shouldn't tank an entire line)
(and like i've always said - flo has NEVER been an anchor but he suddenly became our salvation when we needed "hope" this years line would be better)

there were a lot of reasons last year sucked. to pin it on 1 rookie who busted his tail is just stupid. could he have gotten better? sure. but this "be great now and EVERY play or you suck!" mentality some fans have just amazes me.

Has anyone heard from PittDawg? Does he still visit us?

would you stop in here just to visit a teams fanbase where a few show you some respect but the rest bag on your son night and day and call him the reason our 05 season sucked?

i wouldn't either.

No but I noticed when I was watching the Saints game on the NFL channel at Sears(my second job), how many old Cowboys are on the Saints, they got the linebacker from KC that played for us,Fujito or something like that, safety, and seems like I saw another one somewhere in there, you knwo we're a better team because other teams are picking up our castoffs, remember when we were the ones picking thru the trash, like Eddie George and the other retreads.....

It was a numbers thing. We cut/traded a few decent projects this offseason. Petitti was the odd man out.

He is churning offensive lineman too. He churned Petitti right off the roster. :laugh2:

Not to mention Rogers, Peterman, Vollers, Lehr, Tucker, etc.

In comes Procter, McQ, Batiste, Colombo.

Can't have it both ways. You can't make everything better at once. High draft picks in one area and take some chances on others.

It is still very early in Pettiti career to know how he will develop. Mark Tuinie did not start off looking that good either when he got here but developed into a top notch OT in this league over time

great - now go do a comparison of how many DL's Bp has brought in *in all* vs. how many OL's he's drafted and/or brought in.

Wow, so over a total of 4 years Parcells has brought in 3 more defensive lineman that offensive lineman. That is quite the disparity. I can't believe the way he ignores the offensive line.

Try a little research next time.
