Is Ratliff turning into a playmaker for us?

I don't know if he is ever going to replace either Spears or Canty because of their obvious strength versus the run, but he is a pass rush fiend! He leads the team so far this year with 3 sacks, which for a situational guy is very good. Wouldn't it be funny if he was the guy who went over 10 sacks for the year? With all the hype Ware and Ellis get it would be pretty comical.

In from what I can tell is limited playing time (Is he playing both DT and DE or just getting 1/3 or so defensive snaps spelling DE's?) he seems to be around the ball A BUNCH. Spears and Canty and Ferguson are playing the run very well to this point, but Ratliff seemst to get in the QB's face quite a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts to steal some playing time from others.

And was I correct when listening to a press conference that Ratliff is playing the wedge well on special teams?

Nice player. Can play DE, DT, and special teams. Only in 2nd year. Not being paid a ton. These guys can help you get over the hump.

He's the one player from the 2005 draft that we got that I really wanted. Now, imagine what our pass rush would be like if we had got Luis Castillo and Shawne Merriman in the first round. The word Devasting sounds about right.

I thought both he and hatcher were coming in playing tackles in the nickel, not end.

He plays tackle in the nickel, and tackle in the 3-4.
