Great, great stats.
Fearless leader.
Quick release.
Super intelligent at LOS. Maybe better than Payton.
He can sling it with the best of the greats.
Comeback specialist.

Etc... Etc..

Will he go down like Marino if he doesn't win SB?
Will he go down like Elway if he wins SB?

I want this so bad for him.... I can see it happening.

I believe he is HoF worthy right now but that might just be my homer glasses blurring my vision since I've been a Romo supporter since the beginning.

If he plays 3 more years at his current level you have to consider him for the Hall even if he doesn't get a ring but let's hope it doesn't come to that.

It would be so awesome if he could go out like Elway...win a SB or two and then ride off into the sunset.

I think if he gets to a Super Bowl, he has a better chance of getting into the Hall of Fame.
If he wins it, he's in.
If he doesn't get there, there's no way he gets into the Hall of Fame.

I just finished listening to Mike and Mike, and they were saying if it was Romo and not Eli committing that last minute blunder, we wouldn't have heard the end of it. Super Bowl rings buys a certain amount of grace.

They also said that Romo is the most "overly criticized" quarterback in the history of the game.

Unfortunately, unless Romo gets to a Super Bowl and/or wins it, it's extremely unlikely he gets into the Hall of Fame.

Dan Marino still has a few things on Romo. He's won a conference championship, has played in more playoff games and starred in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. That third one is enough for me to say that Romo's not quite at his level yet.

I agree except I think he needs to have at least two good playoff runs to get into hall of fame.

I prefer Elway way though.

I'd say he's more Danny White with a chance to be Elway.

As good as Romo is, he's not the passer than Marino was. Maybe nobody ever will be.

I think it's "arguable" at this point. And if it's not now... It will be when he is done playing.

Romo - Higher completion %
3 seasons over 4,000
1 season just under 5,000 yards

He's a poor man's Marino right now. He's never gonna be elway either. Imo he's more like Dan Fouts.

An obvious delta is the Marino played in 18 playoffs games won 8 of them, played in multiple AFC Championship games, and obviously a Superbowl.

Of course Marino never won a Superbowl so if you were to summarize that he is no different than Romo so there are some parallels.

Yeah I have been listening to them too.

They would be regurgitating "Romo should have known, it's his job, that's his responsibility" blah blah blah.... Regardless of Eli and his Super Bowls though.

Actually, they've been pretty big Romo supporters.

This is probably the best comp out there.

Both Elway and Marino were able to carry crappy teams on their shoulders farther up the mountain than Romo at this point.

That's no dis on Tony. That's 2 on the absolute best ever to play the game.

Romo will not have the records Marino did when he retires= that is the big difference. AND back then this whole BS ring crap did not exist.

IF Romo can put together three more years of this kind of performance then of course he belongs in the HOF. If Warren Moon can be put in then certainly Tony deserves it.

I always look at Warren Moon as a special case. His stats and playoff record don't warrant HOF entry. however, he was excluded from playing QB in the NFL because of his color for the first 6 years of his career.

I think Romo only chance in getting into the HOF if his career ended today was if the Cowboys go thru a serious funk for many years like the Raiders. If that were to happen, people would appreciate the QB play that he did for the team. Danny White could have been a HOF if it weren't for the Cowboys success with Aikman imo.
