Is Shotty safe?

Just asking because I feel he's safe but how ticked is Jerry? He didn't exactly give a glowing review last night of the coaches. That's not like him. Would he do something drastic? If so, who are the realistic candidates to replace the HC and DC? I dunno who they are. Who might be available? I like shotty but have a sneaking suspicion Jerry might surprise us.

I don’t think he is safe. And he shouldn’t be. This team collectively crapped the bed again in the clutch must-win moments this season.

They were out-coached by the quality teams they faced— and it took a miracle comeback against Philly to even have a 3 week win streak that provided a glimmer of hope.

Not prepared enough. Way too many mistakes. Way too soft on D.

IMO— JJ will likely keep Schotty through Dak’s contract and scapegoat Flus and spend the offseason trying to fix the D.

We need 5 starters and an injection of quality depth players on D to even begin to shift. Will he spend the necessary money to upgrade the roster? Will he go out of his comfort zone and hire the right DC to revamp this unit?

Even getting all that right— Dak still is dogged by under-performing in the big moments. It’s not like the offense was awesome when it mattered most.

Tons of problems. Zero confidence in this FO.

I think the whole staff is safe. At this stage of his life, Jerry values continuity over anything else. If they fail again next season, they may shake up the staff but I think Snotty gets at least 2 more seasons.

Remember there were a lot of rumors about a lack of guaranteed money for this coaching staff, and that being the reason McCarthy didn’t want to come back. If true I doubt anyone is safe.

Short answer. Yes.

While the offense has faltered on the back half of the season, the defense has been at the bottom of the league all year. Matt cannot be brought back

It depends on what he is getting paid but I think he gets another season at least. Jerry doesn’t admit mistakes, especially early ones.

Jerry won’t do anything that makes it look like he made a mistake assembling the current coaching staff. Obviously he doesn’t know how to. Do want a worse coaching staff for next season?

Jerry’s best moves would be 1) stop talking to the media & 2) don’t change a thing. The situation is bad enough without him inserting himself further in the process.

Jerry's not eating the last 3 or 4 years of the deal. He's safe for that reason alone.
Your likely right. But Jerry looked angry. I know typically you'd be spot on regarding the logic you just used, but I'm not completely sold he wouldn't do it. I guess it might depend on if he can get Bill Belichick. I wouldn't want BB he's been terrible since Brady left and in college, but in Jerry's mind, would he contact his friend?

Schotty is somewhere between Dave Campo/Chan Gailey and Jason Garrett level. Not quite good enough to be an NFL level HC. Hopefully he's gone after the season.

Yeah, i think hes safe. I think it was pretty telling at the 10:27 mark in the 2nd qtr when schotty had to call a timeout because rhe defense wasnt set and he ripped into Eberflus. I think the tension has been growing since the early stages when he started “sitting” in defensive meetings. No HC was going to win with your defense in its current state.

Ben Johnson should have been the hire.

Kevin Stefanski would be my choice if the Browns moved on.

Will Mcclay might be the sole reason we are remotely competitive. Even then, he's overvalued and gets a lot wrong. Mingo is another gem lol

The track record with prior head coaches is enough proof to show he’s safe. He needs more time but if I see another season of scared coaching I’m out.

I hear Cincy might fire the HC. Would he be a fit? What about the Michigan DC Wink Martindale? He'd be a great DC upgrade over Eberflus.
