The wait is over. Anticipation over seeing if the wholesale changes and draft focus on defense we're going to materialize.Looks like the decisions made are paying dividends .

Our DL created havoc and disruption at the LOS with DLaw, Collins and Tapper. Jaylon Smith made major contributions in his first start at LB and our secondary certainly didn't look like their first outing together with Brown gathering an interception .

Instead of making a less than elite QB look like an All Pro we made Eli look like anything but.

The game was basically over after the Giants first drive in the 2nd half which consumed 10 minutes while only yielding a field goal , their only score of the game.

If this defense is truly as good as it looked last night the Cowboys with their already dominating offense will be feared by every opponent this year. My expectations have been elevated as I didn't see this defense coming. At least not this soon.

I'd tap the breaks on a Doomsday defense redux.

However, a lot of improvements have seem to help.

Lawrence, Tapper, Collins are healthy.

Paea is a great fit here.

Our linebackers are straight ballers with speed speed and speed! Jaylon is amazing ... not to mention Sean Lee.

Secondary play seemed improved. We still had some soft zones to clean up.

We have a few talented guys coming back ... Lewis, Scanny, Irving, Moore. The arrow is trending way up. But I don't want to get too excited yet.

But after our pourous defense in years past, I'll take this all day everyday. That was a super bowl caliber defense.

I look at this game like a major college football team playing against a a D 1-AA team as a tune up...the D was tuning up against a lesser offense....it was VERY encouraging to see what happened, but the Giants have a 3rd world offense right now

The DLine looked dominant last night and we still don't have Irving or Moore!

Marinelli truly is a wizard, turning garbage into gold

To be considered a great defense you got to bring it week in and week out. I loved what I saw from the defense and had someone told me ahead of time they would give up 3 points vs NY in this game I would say you were hanging out with Gregory. What I saw last night was an aggressive defense getting pressure and a young secondary that avoiding major break downs in coverage and reacted and swarmed to the ball. Brown int he did a great job of baiting Manning. I saw a lot of positives out there but the next step is the big one which is you bring in game in and game out.

I want to see us with David Irving and Damontre Moore added to the mix before I can assess how we are. Last night was a good step without them though.

After getting rid of some dead weight and adding better players I expected a better defense this year.

Add in Irving and Moore and they will only make it better.

It's clearly still a work in progress but just as clearly the arrow is pointing straight up.

I don't think so, I just think that they are well coached. Let's remember that the Gents offense isn't good. They can have 8 all star WR's but the McAdoo offense isn't working. Last year they struggled to score points. They also have NO running game. People saw Brandon Marshal acquisition and thought oh wow. Nope.

Slow your roll.

The defense played well last night but that Giants OL is a disaster. Let's get a bit more evidence here before we start penciling the Cowboys in as a dominant NFL defense.

I am not getting to excited just yet because, we played a mediocre offensive unit in the Giants. However we have greatly improved the D from last year. We are younger, faster and more athletic on D. We are a work in progress and as the season goes along we will get stronger. Love what I say last night.

Considering how young and inexperienced they are, this game was impressive.

Then, already low on chemistry and leadership, and missing some key DL guys, we lost our best and most experienced DB (O-Scan).
There were a few missed assignments after that, but they still held it together.

We can qualify this start against a subpar offense as simply ho-hum, but they handled adversity, played as a unit, and should improve every week. Could look really good by December.

Tap the breaks. The Giants appear to have one of the worst offenses in the league.

Optimistically reserving judgement on the D as a whole but #50 is making it almost impossible to not put on my Mt Rushmore of all-time Cowboys players.

It stood out to me how no opportunity to lay the wood was missed, especially by the secondary. If nothing else, the attitude is there for sure.
