Is the door open for the Cowboys to take the NFCE?

No. Not with this defense.
Which is too bad, really. The league is pretty open this year comparatively speaking. KC, Baltimore, even Buffalo all look mortal. We saw what we did with Green Bay.

If the Defense can actually improve (big if) it wouldn't be outlandish seeing us take the division. I think we have a outside shot at a WC as it is.

Not sure who is really a juggernaut this year. Injuries and poor play abound.

I think we know the Giants will come in last. Other than that, It's too early to know.

Tell you what the NFCE is a competitive division I could see a three team race . And the 4th team NY better win Thurs night against Philly or a 1-5 record is going to circle the drain on their season probably the coach will change by next season .

Serious question.

Does it matter?

Because if they do (or even just get a wild card) they are going to get drilled in the playoffs. Again.
doesnt matter.... why even watch, We know that Jerry sucks, Dak sucks when it matters, or FO is a joke and never helps improve the team, we have like 30 years of history to know what is coming

I suggest just not watching. You know what is coming,

The cowboys are 1.5 games back after 5.

Beating the 0-5 Jets doesn’t make me think they will be able to close that gap.
But going into Philly and easily could have won that game if Lamb doesnt have maybe his worst game, or lighting up another contender, the Pack(even though it was a tie) doesnt mean much?

The Iggles could have lost every game this season, and we could easily be 4-1..... that is the NFL and it is a long season.

Just because the door is not closed does not mean its open for them. I think they have too many holes. Unless some of the young bucks grow up quick, they will be barely on the outside of the playoff picture looking in.

After the 3/4 mark of the season i think the more pertinent question is "Has this team improved or regressed"?

Will the coaching staff identify the deficiencies correctly?

Will the GM take that information and aquire players in a meaningful way?

Will they discard failures like Mazi and cut the cord on them?

Im looking at 2026

I vaguely remember a NY Giants team sitting at 7-7 after 14 games and people calling for their coaches job. They won the next 2, limped into the playoffs and went on to win the SB.

When you have the number 1 offense, anything can happen.

Before anyone decides to hurl insults at me, Philly is still the team to beat and most likely sitting atop the division when it's over. Our defense may put us in a hole we can't recover from. Washington doesn't have a good overall roster and the Giants are, well, the Giants.

But things in Philly are getting interesting. Hurts, Brown, and Barkley had a meeting that was picked up by the media. All three say it was just friends and teammates talking about getting the offense on track, but this comes a few days after both Mailata and Johnson spoke out in a way that denoted displeasure with the offense, despite the team's current record.

Famous Chiefs-stan Nick Wright, sharing a mic with Cowturd, suggested that their OC, Patillo, is on the hot seat. Sirianni knows his team is too talented to be playing the way they've been playing. He also knows that ownership in Philly holds people accountable.

In 2022, Sirianni gave up play calling after seven or eight games. The offense took off all the way to the Super Bowl.
In 2023, two new coordinators were allowed to stay all year, and the NFL figured out their high school schemes by week 11. The team tanked in the first round.
In 2024, the unfairly maligned Moore and Fangio took over, and we know what happened.

Jalen Hurts is now, going back to his college years, on his eight different OC.

If Philly falters, what team benefits the most? IMO, our Cowboys. Why?

Two reason stand out that point in that direction. First is that our offense is simply on fire. Part of this might be that we haven't played the best competition in most games, but no team put up these yards and points by accident. Our offense is damn good and can carry us past 2/3's of the league even with the current state of our defense. Is it sustainable? Maybe not through the entire back end of the schedule, but we're probably not dropping 30 points a game every week anyway.

Second, while our schedule is tougher the second half of the season, this is when our wounded on defense return. Overshown will be a massive boost to a LB corps that seems to be one of the worst tackling units in the league. Bland's return will be a boost to a secondary that needs help, to be kind. The return of both players should help the defense greatly.

Should Philly falter, the Cowboys are the team in the best position to take advantage of their fall. Strange things have happened in the past, so who knows what the future holds?
If we are 7-2-1, healthy and heading to Philly then yes the door is open.

Otherwise this is way to premature to discuss.

That NYG team was better than this one all around. Anything is possbile I mean Jalen Hurts could get hit by lightning and the complexion of the NFCE changes. But you cannot bank on that or the fact this team will pull a NYG type turnaround.

It seems every season the team plays a poorer team and trounces them, and the press starts the, "Is Dallas for real?" questions. They seem to go wild with that idea. Then the team crashes and the press makes fun of them. The issue was press created, and the results were something that could have been anticipated. But the press, needing a story, runs that Is Dallas for real line up the flag pole.

And when the press starts their usual BS, people on this site call them out.

Now here we are with this team is beating the Jets. Frankly they should have posted over forty on that team and held them to 13 points.

Then this thread pops up about winning the East.

Look at the defense against the Jets. That game was far too close for what this offense is capable of. And the problem lies with both sides of the ball. The offense looks like it has teeth, but again, it should have embarrassed the Jets. The defense couldn't stop a troup of girl scout from running after the ice cream man's truck.

Now this thread is at three pages.

Let this team get healthy, and then beat someone that wins games before surmising this could be a team that wins the east.

Bank on it?? cmon man, I just bet my life savings on it..... smh
And we dont need Hurts getting hit by lightning, they arent some dominant tea, no matter what people in here keep saying.

No one has played enough games to win or lose a division just yet. There is so much that could happen. Dallas could win out, lose out, win some, lose a few, tie some more...who knows.
