Is there a good reason why we probably won't interview Rivera?

I have read that the main reason for not wanting to wait to interview Ron Rivera is that we have to wait until the day after the SuperBowl and we can't fill our staff in the meantime (since the new coach wouldn't be here and good candidates get snapped up). Well, there really haven't been that many hires and we did get Garrett. I would be fine with hiring whomever if we could at least bring him in for an interview. My stomach is churning thinking that we will jump into the Norv situation without at least exploring this option.

Jerry would be dumb to not hire Rivera because he feel there isn't enough time for him to assemble a staff, it's only 7/8 days away from now when we'll have the chance to interview him

If Rivera is hired I have zero problem making Bowles DC. Sparano can help out Garrett and we have a young, talented and hungry staff at the top spots.

It makes no sense not to wait because we're worried who the equipment manager is going to be.

It's stupid to not interview Rivera because we have to wait one more week.

We've waited this long one more week is not going to make or break us.

I watched a interview with Rivera last night on The NFL Network and he seemed very intelligent knew what he was talking about and confident.

It would be a shame to not even interview him.

You know a guy in Rivera's position will be hungry, he will be starving for a chance to prove what he can do as HC.

Whereas Turner realizes that there is life after failing as a HC, he may think he is hungry but it would not be as much as a first time HC who wants to prove himself as capable in the NFL.

The burning desire of a first time HC is scary sometimes.

I hope Jones isn't locked on to Norv already.

:hammer:

I am hoping Jerry Jones will take his time and widen the field of possible candidates. Hopefully he doesnt feel he needs to hurry and name a coach so he can upstage the Super Bowl.

yes a very good reason. Jason Garrett is going to be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys (hopefully for a long time). What HC prospect wants to walk into that situation. This is why Norv is the perfect hire at this time.

Then why not get it over with and hire him and don't run the risk of losing Garrett?

So the criteria is to find a HC who only wants to coach a few more years and is toying with retirement?

I'm a big Parcells guy, but isn't that what did us in the past few years?

and if Garret doesn't pan out? I sure hope Jerry isn't putting all his eggs in one unproven basket

SO..... what is Rivera's background? How long has he been around? I know he coaches the Chicago "D" but until just recently I've heard nothing!

why would he be the BEST choice? Just be cause he's hungry?:D

the fact that he's around success and isn't a proven failure as HC is another reason

...but, why should we expect that Ron Rivera is more likely to pan out than JG or anyone else for that matter? RR might end up being a great coach or he might not, but it's not going to be for the Dallas Cowboys, Garrett's presence assures us of that.

Jerry "The Risk Taker" Jones isn't comfortable hiring anyone outside of the family. If he had played for the Cowboys during the 90's, there is no question he would get an interview, if not outright handed the job.

Hunger drives a man to succeed.

His players rave about him and all say he will be a great coach someday.

The results of his D in Chicago look good on a resume too.

Why not at least an interview ?

He says he is interested.

there is no "good" reason but the obvious reason is that jerruh isn't familiar with him (not in some nfl committee and not a FOJ (friend of jerruh).

also lets get real.... jerruh is impetutous and can't wait another week!
