i think the key will be the skins ability to run the ball, not so much brunells performance. the skins controlled the clock for just over 36 minutes in the first game. both brunell and portis are dinged (thats partly the reason for brunells mediocre showing the past 2 weeks).

if the skins can run the ball effectively and keep seattles O off the field, which is gibbs philosophy, that will negate a pass rush and take pressure off brunell.

double brought up a great point in the post above mine. the skins had an early 14 point lead and sat on it. even with a measly 120 yards of offense, gibbs did what he wanted to do- he milked the clock for almost 26 minutes, believe it or not, and let TB make the offensive mistakes. he was coaching to win the game, not put up 400 yards of offense.

You cannot milk the clock against the Seahawks. It's been tried. We played the Seahawks, and our defense was playing at a similar level to where yours is right now. they are just TOO good offensively, for that to be accomplished. Did you realize that they are one of the best run stopping teams in the league? And it's not like teams don't run against them. The only team that had more carries against them, and allowed less ypc, was TB.

jax, wash, and dallas all held the ball for over 34 minutes vs the hawks. 2 of those games were losses for them. the giants held the ball for almost 33 minutes. for the year, they hold the ball for 29:17 per game. i think you can milk the clock against them. especially with a good running game.

when it comes to seattles overall defensive stats, you cant look at them accurately without breaking them down further. outside of the indy game (which gets thrown out whan analyzing the team statistically- as does the following weeks GB loss), seattle only played 4 winning teams all year. they didnt face alot of great RB's.

seattle is 20th in the league as far as opponents rushing attempts per game, due in large part to a few blowouts.

Santana Moss and Cooley are good players, not the difference makers on a weekly basis that Portis is. As far as the 28pts per game, most people can score on those great defenses in Arizona and St Louis. 120 yds total offense last week makes my case.

Santana Moss is not a difference maker???? Have you been able to do what we all have tried and wipe week 2 from your memory?? Please tell me how then. :)

Cooley had 3 tds vs the Gmen. That 28pts per game includes the drubbing of us and the Giants as well as a Philly defense that is much better than Arizona or the Rams. I am just saying the Skins have showed some offense and have like us had a top 5 toughest schedule vs the 32nd toughest of Seattle. Seattle could and should have lost all three games to the Gmen, Boyz , and Skins this year. I just think this game will be closer than the spread.

....... "on a weekly basis". I wrote that for a reason . Cooley and Moss are not difference makers on a weekly basis. Portis is.

well they are obviously on a roll, but you might say they are due for a let down. I always chuckle when I see something like - this team has won 14 consecutive games on a Sunday coming off a monday night game. Half the people hearing that are thinking oh they are going to win now, and half are thinking oh they are due for a loss. Same thing for the skins, you may think its going to continue or you may think it can't last, but the reality is any given sunday.....

I am actually predicting the Panthers and Seahawks myself

Is there a hotter team in the NFC than the Commanders? i hate to admit this but in my opinion the Commanders are a huge roll, i think they have won 6 in a row, with all the games being life or death for them.

they might be a little shaky at QB at times, but when they get Portis, Moss going and that Cooley guy making catches all over the place, they are tough to stop, and more importantly you factor that defense of theirs, i can easily see them knocking Seattle out this week, i know alot of people are picking Seattle to go all the way in the NFC, but im not sold on Seattle at all, i dont feel they were very impressive vs the NFC East this year, us and the Giants had them beat, and the Skins did beat them. if i were a betting man, i would bet the Skins and the Bears this week.

I would say the New England Patriots are just as hot.

The Commanders have an excellent chance at beating the Seahawks who have not won a Playoff game since the 1980s. They have already beaten the Seahawks this year and will no doubt be very competitive with them again in the Playoffs.

If the Commanders get to the NFC Championship game in Gibbs 2nd year....the Commanders fans are going to let us hear about it for a long time.

We held them to 3 points going into the final 2-3 minutes of the game. Even with that late TD and then the int and FG as time ran out they only scored 13 points. I don't think 13 points will be good enough for them to win tomorrow.

IMO, the key is turnovers. Seattle can't afford to give up easy points like TB did last week or Philly the week before. I expect Washington's offense will be a little more effective this week so the Seahawks don't need to help them any.

Complete BS. Your offense stunk it up not because of Gibbs wanting to sit on the lead but because Brunell sucked azz and Portis couldn't run like he did previous weeks.
Complte BS just like your boy Sean "the Thug" Taylor saying he didn't spit at Pittman.

We were the #12 offense in the league. Thats better than most teams. Stats dont lie. Now go enjoy your offseason. Yes Sean Taylor might be a thug, but he performs on the Football field so nobody really gives a damn but Cowboy fans that have nothing better to do than talk about how much a punk Sean Taylor is. Without him scoring these recently 2 TD's, the Commanders wouldn't be playing right now.
