Is There Any Way McCarthy Doesn't go QB First Round?

You guys saying, "no, no, no" and not even considering the idea are missing the point of the question.

We don't need to spend a high pick to get a good quarterback in terms of the ones available in this draft, but it's possible to get the guy we really like anyway, possibly even in the 2nd round because the real problem with this class is that there's no real clear cut winner, which makes them appear to be weak.

But that's not the case. They're all just good, and any of them could go between rounds 1-3 because it's pretty close in talent in terms of the top 7 or so in this class.

I personally like Corrall (reminds me of Rivers) and Strong (reminds me of P. Manning). If we spent a 1st on either of those guys, I won't be upset.

Corrall and Strong seem to be sleepers in this class.

You have to look past what people are saying and look at these players on your own here.

I also like Bailey Zappe.

There's also Sam Howell and Kenny Pickett who can also play some football.

These guys are all long gone before the 4th round, imo. So, do the math, if numbers mean anything to you in terms of how "weak" this class is.

Then, you have guys who are more gambles and may need more developmental time like Malik Willis and Desmond Ridder, and more.

In hindsight, this is going to be one of the stronger quarterback classes in the NFL, I suspect.

Think about it.

You have four extra draft picks. You can do a lot of damage with those picks.

And it's quite possibly your last year here if Dakota doesn't win it for you.

Do you want to bank on a quarterback with no real awareness or urgency to win big games?

Sure, he can stroll through a few games against bad teams. But it's like the boyfriend you tell your daughter to avoid because he lacks ambition. To me, that's Dakota. He's just kinda there.

Some think Matt Corrall drops to 20..

Any way you make something happen to get him?

Some have him going to the Steelers, but the Cowboys also brought him in.

Which means: they are thinking about using a high pick at quarterback.. something they haven't done recently.

Dakota showed why he's a fourth round pick in the playoffs.

If you think anything otherwise, you weren't watching for the things you need in a quarterback to win those big games. Like a sense of urgency to win!

I sense that despite his demeanor McCarthy has that urgency while Dak doesn't.. And I think, at least I hope, Dallas realizes it's time to draft a quarterback in the 1st and surprises those who believe we've already made up our minds to hang our hats on Dakota.

I believe McCarthy knows he'd be wise to move on here, and we'll see that reflected in how he drafts.
Wut???

There are 4-5 guys who could be serious upgrades over Dak...

No kidding.

Stop listening to the pundits. This class has big talent.

Sounds like wishful thinking on your part, and nothing more. Sorry bud, it's not gonna happen. I'm not familiar with this year's draft class, but historically they always shoot up the board as the draft nears. Our best chance of going that route is if a premium prospect slips completely out of the first and maybe even the second. The value will have to be overwhelming.

But the title of your thread was First Round
THAT is what seems so borderline out of the question

Right..

I mean, they have to have a guy out of these prospects that they like enough to take with the 24th pick..

The title was to get you thinking some. And I still don't think it's that far out of the question.
