Is there anything worse than car trouble?

So I go to Wal Mart to pick up something in the sporting goods section and happen to park right outside the automotive center because that's where sporting goods is. They don't have what I'm looking for so leave. I get in my truck and turn the key and nothing happens. Great. It's 100 degrees outside.

I go back in and buy some cheap jumper cables right behind this couple. Turns out I walk right behind them and they're parked right next to my truck. I ask them very politely if they would mind jumping me off. The dumb hag replies "Honey I can't jump you off I gotta get him out of town!" The sleazeballs weren't even in any hurry to get to their car. I was so mad.

I walk around to one of the bays to see if one of the guys working can jump me off. He stops what he's doing and brings a battery jumpoff kit around and hooks it up. Still nothing. About that time the security truck making his rounds drives by. Another sleazeball. I ask if he would mind jumping me off. "No I can't do that...uh....insurance purposes...yeah." I wanted to kill him.

I just bought the battery a few months ago because my truck was doing the same thing. The guy who's helping me says it's still under warranty. I offer him a few dollars for helping me but he won't take it. I take it out and bring it inside and they test it. Turns out there's nothing wrong with it, but the guy notices a lot of corrosion around the clamp for the positive wire. We take it off and beat off the corrosion with a rubber mallet. I go put my battery back in and thank God, it starts.

Moral of the story: Help people out, especially when it doesn't take any time at all. And if your car or truck won't start, check for corrosion that might be blocking the connection. It could save you a lot of money.

Why would you use a rubber mallet? A wire brush would be the correct tool. Seriously, I would disconnect the battery again, clean the connections with a wire brush. They make one just for battery terminals.

That's all they had there.

It worked.

Toothache.

I don't have one, but I swear nothing is worse.

Never had a really bad one, but I do actually have something worse than car trouble:

Food poisoning

Other than medical issues, car problems are the worst.

You should look into buying a new vehicle.

Oh wait............

In a pinch, take baking soda and water and mix together, then take an old toothbrush and scrub the connectors/terminals with it. Works like a charm.

Kidney stones are much worse.

But, yeah, I hear you about car problems. They are the pits. It's comforting to ride around with a waranty. AAA and cell phones saved me many times.

I have poured regular Coke on a corroded terminal and used a rag in a pinch.
