Is This How Eagles Fans Felt Last Year?

It doesn’t matter, no Cowboys team ever had more Pro Bowlers than the 2007 team. It just made the team more full of themselves.
They did have a lot of pro bowlers, but look outside of those pro bowlers. Who was the 2nd TE? Nobody. Bobby Carpenter was starting on that team. Outside of Terrance Newman, that backfield wasn’t special at all. Yes we had legendary players, but 0 depth and a weak supporting cast. Outside of TO and Miles Austin, there weren’t any special WRs.

I totally hear what your saying but….this year just feels different. You are right to say the pro bowl in 2007 made players full of themselves. I just don’t think Micah works that way man. I think they know. They know it’s been 30 years, and I think they are sick of hearing it.

I’m not saying I think they are for sure gonna win the SB, but I think this might be the closest we get to it in the last few decades

Say what you will but that team was 12-1 at one point. Troy Aikman said it was the most explosive Cowboys offense he had ever seen. Romo was on pace for over 40 TD passes. That team beat the Giants twice, who went on to win the Super Bowl. That was arguably the best Cowboys team since their championship teams in the 90s. The team became complacent and sputtered out. Romo and others went to Cabo before a playoff game. I’ve never seen a Cowboys team waste a golden opportunity like that team did. One of the most disappointing seasons I’ve ever experienced as a Cowboys fan.

It doesn’t matter how stacked the Cowboys are, their failures have never had to do with talent. The team had 13 pro bowlers in 2007 but it led to a one and done in the playoffs. Practically every year they’re listed as one of the most talented teams, but if you don’t have a group of players that are committed to being the best, you’re never going to win a championship no matter how stacked you are.
That team reminded me of the Vikings of last year. That 2007 was the most overrated team in Dallas history.

I don’t know about you guys, but this team just feels absolutely stacked to me. It feels like a perfect blend of salty veterans, emerging young players, and crazy depth at key positions.

Yes, there’s mystery behind K and some lighter positions (I wish Overshown hadn’t been hurt), but I am weirdly confident in Aubrey. This isn’t just normal preseason excitement for me. This has to be the best team on paper since the 90s.

Here’s hoping Dak has his best year ever, and this defense goes down in history as legendary. This week is going to be the longest week ever. Go Cowboys!
I dunno, let’s win a couple games first before we start getting SB crazy lol

This is the most talented team the Cowboys have had in over 20 years and Micah is a force of nature and the type of generational talent that can will the defense to success.

I don’t think Dak is that guy for our offense, we simply don’t have that guy on that side of the ball, but I do think Dak is a solid enough QB to win a Super Bowl in the right conditions. We’ll just have to see if the stars align this year.

When the Cowboys get into the playoffs this season, it will be the first time since the mid-90's that the Cowboys reached the playoffs in three consecutive seasons.

The last time the Cowboys reached the playoffs for three consecutive seasons was 1994-1996.

In the 1994 season, they lost the NFC Championship game. In the 1995 season they won the Super Bowl. It was also the last time the Cowboys went beyond the divisional round of the playoffs. In 1996 they lost in the divisional round.

The OP talked about how stacked the team is. I pointed out how stacked the 2007 team was. It does have to do with the conversation. How stacked the Cowboys are, isn’t going to matter if they’re not committed to being the best.
I think he was trying to say pro bowlers don't have to mean your team is stacked. I don't think the 1992 Cowboys had any pro bowlers on the defense that year.

I’m sure you say that every year at this time. The same song and dance. Lol
Hey buddy, you're trying to bring reality and historical context to a group of people who the majority of which agreed with a post stating "Duece Vaughn could become one of the best NFL running backs of All Time" (after a single training camp, and a Darren Sproles bone-toss comment after getting asked by the media 1000 times "Hey Darren, do you think Duece is good? He's small like you"

Your energy would be better spent trying to teach your dog the Theory of Relativity

If they want to suspend disbelief year after year, might as well let them. Charlie Brown never learned his lesson when Lucy asked him to kick the football....he'd just run full speed every time as she pulled it away.

Not saying this year can't be better....but it's as if the mere POSSIBILITY that history repeats itself once again is the most absurd notion you could conceive of around here. Same QB who led the league in INTs and pick 6 last year (even while missing a 3rd of the games...quite a feat) is still back slinging the ball around this year, but nooooooooo no WAY we could lose games we shouldn't this year too, eek I to the playoffs as a WildCard, and lose 1st or 2nd game.
IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

On paper we are better than last year. Let's start with that and circle back after the first two NY games. That should be a pretty good barometer of what we might be if injuries are kind

I think long time fans are skeptical and I will get excited if they make it to the NFC championship. Until then I just feel like the bottom will somehow fall out like it has over the past 25 years.

Eagles fans a year ago didn’t even believe in Jalen Hurts lol. Howie had 2 first rounders just in case he failed.

I never trust barometers that early in the season though. We had one of our worst games last year week 1.

Yep....apples and oranges.

Eagles last year were more similarr to SanFran last year....both had unexpected great QB seasons from an unknown unproven guy.

Dallas this year more similar to Minnesota from last few years. You know the team is good enough....just a matter of whether Kirk Cousins (who is always statistically good) will ever not flame out in the big games.

That team was overrated in terms of its pro-bowlers (which is a popularity contest) especially on the offensive line, was lacking in depth, and it had an injured and hobbled TO and Jacques Reeves as one of its CBs (which gave up a TD at the end of the half in under 40s after kicking it off), not to mention Captain Cupcake as head coach and Garrett calling the plays around an injured TO, among other issues when it came playoff time. The offense was outstanding when healthy and running on all cylinders, but the defense and pass rush outside of a few bright spots like the future HOF Ware was average. Even if they got to the SB I think the secondary would’ve been smoked by the Pats and Moss.

True, one game is always meaningless in and of itself but it's more telling than no games which is what we have now. My point with the Giants and Jets is both should be good. The Giants are a borderline playoff team in a weak NFC and the Jets are in the playofff mix in a very strong AFC. Plus the Jets look to have a really good defense and the Giants are stout in the middle of the DLine and will test our run game which I think will be important for us this year. I think after those two games we will have a really good feel for what our team is this year Then we should hopefully easily beat AZ after that
