Is this team ready to commit to the run?

The big question to me is going to be how the defense performs....I'm sure they want to commit to running the football, and really they have an OL better suited to do so than sling it 40+ times per game, but McCarthy always talked about a run first approach too. It's great in theory, but as soon as you start falling behind in games can you stick with the ground attack? It's significantly easier to stick to the run game if you think your defense can hold teams to under 20 points with some consistency.
 
Very true, but how far are we down, and at what point in the game are we down so that we have to abandon the run. It's complete abandonment, and sprinkle in a run on 3rd and 21

Yes, they are definitely committed with these two oft-injured rbs who absolutely can revive the run! :facepalm:
 
The more important question, STILL, is are they committed to stopping the run.

Being a good running team isn't that hard.

I mean, you need a tough physical skillful oLine, a couple good RBs who are durable, a good passing game and WRs to keep teams from crowding the LOS, a good blocking tight end, good coaching, and a tough team mentality.... and while we have none of those things, shouldn't be too hard to accomplish in the next few months.
 
Right now, no way. Blocking might be better, but lets be honest they downgraded at RB. The draft could change this, lets see what happens.

We have done nothing in the off season to commit to the run.
 
How can this team be committed to running the ball when they don't even have a legitimate starting RB?

What is the likelihood of the Cowboys taking a solid starter in the draft at RB? Is that the skill position they are most likely to take first?

Did the Cowboys make a serious attempt at signing one of the better O-linemen in free agency?

How many rookies are going to start on offense in the season opener?

Committing and talking about it isn't the same thing.
 
It's too early to tell have to see if the offensive line can pull its weight or not it's got to be able to impose its will and open holes.

Have to wait till the draft is over and see what we do at running back because we don't have the running back now on the roster to say we are committed to the running game.
Worse yet we let a very serviceable guy get away

Well, since Jeanty will be gone, looks like we'll go TE in the 1st.
