Is this the beginning of the end for Jason Garrett?

I don't hate Garrett and don't yet know he should be fired. I'll wait until after the year to think about that.

My complaint, however, is that I feel like he lacks command as a play caller. It's as if he has no conviction -- doesn't really know what he wants to be or what he wants this team to be. He also panics easily.

I thought he called a great game against Philly. He had some things working against him out of his control, like penalties. But he's followed that up with two highly questionably called games IMO.

He probably lacks command because his owner is sending public messages how he wants the offense run. Like how he'd like Felix to get more rushes.

All coaches/authority figures on this team are heavily hamstrung by this clown. In turn, so will their ideas of how to manage a unit. This team has some good people in the right places, on the field and off; the problem isn't this one or that, but the constant at GM.

If we hear what we do hear, imagine what we don't?

The simple truth is this. Averaging seven points against Green Bay and Washington is not how Garrett's season will be remembered.

What matters is how he responds to this stretch.

No doubt. Coaches are hamstrung here.

Not sure when this thread started with the Commanders game today, but after watching today's game, I'm convinced Garrett's success is predicated on luck. He was told to establish the run today, so he did, and it worked all the way down the field until Barber fumbled.

Then for the rest of the first, second, third, and most of the fourth period, I couldn't figure out what the offensive scheme was.

I can't believe that Romo has to throw into coverage every play. I can't believe the o-line has to mass protect on every play, allowing three defenders to converge on the intended receiver. Where were our talented tight end? They were blocking of course. If Witten is taken out of the game because he has to block to cover Adams, or Free, then the offense is doomed, unless a wide receiver can get separation.

I can't believe Austin can't get separation on a slant pattern. Where is Crayton in a slant as the third receiver? Where are the screen plays to Felix or Marion to slow down the blitz?

The defense played great all day, but the only turnover came wtih minutes left to play? The great pass rush that was supposed to result in a lot of turnovers, yet the P.I. was the result of a tipped pass? Newman and Jenkins were never in the right place to get an interception.

Late in the third quarter, a stat was flashed across the scree that said no WR had caught a pass yet? What the heck was that? Garret, can't you call a slant across the middle? Every other game I watched today had WRs catching passes.

The defense played very well today. The offense layed another egg, and unless somebody realizes why in a hurry, this season is over, starting in December.

The scheme and play calling is off. Something needs to be fixed or we are in big trouble.
