I am a Dak fan. I felt sick all last night about his injury. But I am a Dallas Cowboy fan above all regarding this franchise. So I hope Dak heals and can come back and lead this team.

But today I am an Andy Dalton fan. So below is the status of this WR crew including tight ends.

What can Dallas expect from these players now that they have a change at quarterback?

And what is your opinion on how Dalton's mobility will affect the overall WR stats, considering Dallas is playing With a HOF in Martin, a sketchy lineman in Williams, and three rookies? Will he be taking more sacks that end drives?

AND can Cee Dee Lamb keep on pace with his Rookie of the Year season?

I am terrible with these chart things. Apologies.

  • Amari Cooper - Games 5, Rec 39, Yards 424, Avg 10.9, Long 58, TD 1, 1st Dwn 23, 1st% 58.97, 20+ 4, 40+ 1
  • Michael Gallup - Games 5, Rec 17, Yards 348, Avg 20.5, Long 52, TD 1, 1st Dwn 14, 1st% 82.35, 20+ 6, 40+ 2
  • Cee Dee Lamb - Games 5, Rec 29, Yards 433, Avg 14.0, Long 43, TD 2, 1st Dwn 20, 1st% 69.87, 20+ 9, 40+ 1
  • Cedrick Wilson - Games 5, Rec 12, Yards 163, Avg 13.6, Long 42, TD 2, 1st Dwn 9, 1st% 75, 20+ 2, 40+ 2
  • Noah Brown - Games 5, Rec 7, Yards 80, Avg 11.4, Long 20, TD 0, 1st Dwn 1, 1st% 14.29, 20+ 1, 40+ 0

  • Dalton Schultz - Games 5, Rec 19, Yards 225, Avg 11.8, Long 28, TD 2, 1stDwn 13, 1st% 68.42, 20+ 3, 40+ 0
  • Blake Bell - Games 5, Rec 5, Yards 71, Avg 14.2, Long 24, TD 0 1st Dwn 4, 1st % 80, 20+ 1, 40+ 0
I think that entire combined crew is the best all around that we've ever had in history and I've been there since it began.

Top 3- Pearson Hill and Johnson are hard to beat. Haven’t seen enough from this group- but they are really good.

Irvin, Harper and Martin were nice too.

hope this crop can have some of the same success.

If we are talking WR from top to bottom- then this group had to be the best.

I'll go with 1971. All in the HOF.

Bob Hayes #6 all time yards per catch
Lance Alworth #13 all time yards per catch
Mike Ditka

These guys played before the age of the 3rd WR or slot WR because most teams had a FB instead of a 3rd WR. They also ran the ball a hell of a lot more, played defense a hell of a lot more and won a hell of a lot more than these guys today.

CeeDee Lamb is damn impressive. That catch he made last game was unreal. That was the type of hit that usually brings out the cart. He's a monster over the middle and he's probably the best over-the-middle guy Dallas has had since Irvin. I know Keyshawn did some strong work in the middle and Dez had some nice plays, but CeeDee is absolutely fearless. He's better than I would have expected from any rookie WR. Rookie WRs usually take some time to really start going.

Any talk of letting one of these guys go to another team is messing with history. But you know it's only a matter of time before the Jones' stuff it all up somehow.

No not easily.

We certainly have a great receiving corps, but best ever in Cowboys history? No way. We have three HOF WRs who made up some great receiver groups in the past, all of them with SB rings. Let’s review:
  • 1971 Receivers- Bob Hayes (HOF and ROH), Lance Allworth (HOF), Mike Ditka (TE HOF) Won SB VI
  • 1977 Receivers- Drew Pearson (ROH, HOF), Tony Hill (3 time Pro Bowler), Butch Johnson- caught a TD in SB XII. Won SB
  • 1992 Receivers- Michael Irvin (HOF and ROH), AlvinHarper, TE Jay Novacek. Won SB XXVII, and SB XXVIII.
I’m not knocking this years WR group at all. They’re great. But they have a LONG WAY to go before calling them our best ever. Maybe they could make the playoffs first amybe win a divisional playoff game first.

Adam Henry has done a nice job. Yes he's got a lot of talent to work with but even guys like Wilson and Brown are playing well and everybody seems to be on the same page. Same could be said for Lunda Wells. He was given no talent and made Schultz and the Belldozer behave like actual football players. I was very critical of the MM hire, but I like the offensive staff he's put together so far.

Irvin, Harper, Martin, Novacek, Smith (meaning Jimmy Smith, but I guess he doesn’t count. I would say this current unit the way Wilson has emerged could certainly be the best.
I”m still taking Irvin over anyone on today’s list. Lamb certainly might change that in the coming years. Harper was such a clutch big time receiver in Dallas. Novacek easily over Shultz.

it’s tough, hard to judge this unit without big moments in big games. That is what ultimately makes anyone unit great.

With Dak hurt doubt this holds, but our top three was on pace for:

Amari Cooper 1,357 yards
Michael Gallup 1,114 yards
Ceedee Lamb 1,386 yards

That's pretty outstanding!

IMO great but Gallups were better at the sideline guys hanging off him IE a PI not called thank god he got it and set up game winners. Think about the Rams game another clutch catch to set up a potential game winner called back on a ticky tack OPI they let go routinely..

Gallups becoming not only clutch but threatening to go from 1c to 1A..

Biggest names, but they didn't have great production or recognition. All past their primes. Not a Pro Bowl between them.
