Is this the reason most of us never got over the 1994 NFCC Loss?

Because the niners went on to win the SB on top of knocking us out of the playoffs? Do we as Cowboys fans forget about that 1994 NFCC loss if the Chargers won the SB that year instead of the Niners?

I know a lot of fans are still hurt by that loss because the cowboys was stopped from three peating but is it the Ring by the Niners that made it worst?

To me the toughest part of that loss was - and btw it is always the same to me - knowing that we were the much better team but beat ourselfs.

Getting beat by a team that actually was no competition simply kills me everytime i think about it.

The second thing is that Steve Young as celebrated as he is is one of the more overrated QBs to me. And he did virtually nothing to win that game but he was hyped after it like he was the second coming of Jesus Christ.

To me it's always the same: Losing against a bad team always hurts alot. And when it comes down to big games it simply kills me.

It's also how it happened.

We got screwed with what should have been a crucial Deion interference penalty that they never called when he raped Irvin and the officials decided to take a nap during the play.

:hammer: Close the thread, we have a winner. And the first response too, nice.

Let me also add, and the ridiculous unsportsmanlike conduct called on Switzer.

Didn't the Cowboys have like four or five turnovers in that game ?

I know that Aikman had three. And I am pretty sure that Steve young was not sacked.

The Cowboys may indeed have been the better team...Just not that day. They gave that game to the 49ers.
Yep, 5 turnovers. Aikman had three picks, Irvin had a fumble and I believe Kevin Williams also had a fumble.

Agree, the reason why the loss was so tough is that we should have won. The P/I call was huge and was so obvious. Also, the unsportsmanlike call was horrendous as well. I really think the game would have ended differently if those calls were reversed.

If I am not mistaken, Emmitt was also banged up in that game with a pulled hamstring.....Aikman was unbelievable as well as Irvin.
In addition to Emmitt, Erik Williams was out because of an earlier injury and his backup, rookie Larry Allen, was also banged up playing on a bad ankle. Those two factors were a huge reason Aikman was under so much pressure that day.

Why does no one else remember the TD pass to Irvin that was ruled out of bounds and then the subsequent missed chip shot FG? If we get either one of those scores, the final drive could have been entirely different since we would have only needed one TD.

I don't know about that. The Niners were steam rolling everyone that year sans the Eagles, who beat them pretty bad earlier that season. The Niners stockpiled their roster with free agents by circumventing the salary cap, as it would later be determined. It was like a team that was piece-mailed together with a group of all stars...almost like a Pro Bowl roster.

As I recall, they beat us in the regular season that year, and it was one reason why we had to play the game on their turf.

They were a good team that year, and the better team that day. They also beat us in the regular season the following year, 1995. IMO, we were quite lucky that the Packers knocked them out of the playoffs in 1995. They created some matchup problems in the 1995 reg season game, and I know I didn't want to see them again. I'm also convinced that Switzer and his staff weren't smart enough to study the film and adjust.

The Cowboys of 1994 and 1995 were evidence that talented players can overcome bad coaching.

the turnovers were the reason why the cowboys lost the game. there were some bad calls for sure. if the cowboys do not spot the niners 21 points at the start of the game then they very well could have won. the cowboys beat themselves not the referees. the niners did what every good does when presented with turnovers they make the other teams pay.
