Is this years team right back to 2014 status?

I am just comparing defense of 2016 to 2014.
The 2014 team almost made it to NFC championship game.
If we had Zeke instead of Murray, we may have made it.

Now 2014 defense may not be good enough because Cam may have changed the competitive landscape.
Thank god they did not get a 1st/2nd round WR.

Regarding 1st 4 games, actually we did not have Lawrence for basically the 1st 10 games of 2014.
So we are really only missing Randy - who was not there in 2014 either.
I think we can plug in the other DEs (Irving, Tapper, Mayowa, Crawford, Russell) for the 1st 4 games and be roughly the same as 2014.

I agree that 2016 defense is not good.
How bad is hard to say.
Lets hope Randy grows up and plays to his ability.

What some are forgetting about the 2014 season is that we have several things go right for us that probably wont happen this year.

-Romo stayed healthy and overall health of the team was incredible. NO major injuries save for Sean Lee.
-We were 3rd in the league in defensive turnovers. I dont think that is happening again, especially with our pass rush.

I think for people to assume we are right back to 2014 and the results will be same is nothing more than wishful thinking.

None the less, I do look forward to watching Zeke run every Sunday.

We went into 2015 as a superbowl favorite.
Romo/Dez went down and the rest is history.

Question now is if the offense is dominant enough to pound it down Carolina's throat.
They lost their #1 CB and a DE.
They drafted mostly defense for DL and CB.
Will Romo be healthy and will Dez come back to form?
Will Zeke the 'complete TB' make the incremental improvement that prevents Carolina defense from adapting?
That is why we watch the games...

If Romo goes down, then we get to draft a top DE or top QB or both in 2017.
As far as I am concerned, super bowl or really bust (tank for draft pick).
