Instant, no. But neither was Lamb. TMac will be top 10-15 in a few years.In answer to the OP question, “Is TMAC capable of carrying the team if Cedee goes down?” The short answer is NO.
The long answer is few rookie WRs in the NFL - even first rounders - are instant stars. Most take a little adjustment time getting used to press coverage, reading coverages and how to respond, finding soft spots in the zone, etc. I believe he will be an excellent NFL receiver, just not immediately.
Having watched McMillan in several games in college at Arizona, I believe he will need some time adjusting. He is certainly skilled, has great size and great hands with a huge catch radius but I also believe he will struggle with press coverage, which he struggled with at times in college. He has great upside but he is NOT in my view an instant star.
And that will be true if we draft Golden as well. Rookie WRs typically have an adjustment period. The things they could easily do in college is much harder to do at the next level.
I do think he's that good. The way he runs, there's no doubt in my mind that he can improve his route running.
