Is Tony Romo the best coach on the team?

The problem isn't Romo or even Garrett, it's Callahan. The scheme has been way too conservative. The Cowboys were gaining more yards, more first downs, converting more third downs, and getting more big plays in 2011 and 2012.

All the Cowboys can hang their hat on so far is they're averaging 27.4 points per game (5th in the NFL) and I believe they also rank in the top five in red zone scoring.

I would tell Romo to just turn off his helmet mike and call all the plays in the huddle or at the line...................cant be anyworse than Opie and Callahan.

I actually haven't been too fond of the increased input by Romo, if that's what we've seen. As a play-caller, he seems to overreact to what he's seeing on defense.

He's always been good at running the hurry-up, two-minute offense, but I haven't seen him be able to apply that to running the offense at other times.

And I dont get the confusion with getting the play in, getting the offense lined up and getting the snap off. Every damn play they run the play clock to zero. We are the only team in the NFL that does that consistently. That in and of itself is part of the problem.

Right so where Is the disconnect? Is it the OC not getting the play called in quickly, is it Romo not getting them in and out of the huddle in a timely manner or are the players just lazy getting set?

Perhaps all three but its just ridiculous. They just all look so unprepared even after a timeout lol

Now this is why I love your posts. I know when I see a topic started by you, or see that you were the last person to post in a topic---then I must read it. I will be honest, there are about 6 or 7 Garrett and Jerry supporters that I just cant take anymore and had to utilize the ignore feature. That'll never happen with you pal!

For the most part, this offense seems to be most effective when they abandon the gameplan and and just let Romo play streetball. A couple things with Romo though, first, when he starts to feel pressured too often he starts locking into that Witten-Only mode. The second is, I often wondered if opposing defenses try to manipulate his audibles. He almost never audibles into a run/screen play and more often than not he seems to audible into quick slants or outs. He gets too predictable at times with his audibles and gives the defense the opportunity to jam the receivers to disrupt the timing or jump the route. Those are the times you need a coach to break him out of those habits.
Overall, I think Tony is much better in making in-game adjustments than our coaching staff has shown.

I think a lot of that's on Romo, with maybe some mistrust in his teammates. He'll break the huddle in plenty of time and then start noticing the defensive games and point them out to his teammates. Sometimes the defense is showing one thing, then switches, and he points out the switches, checks with the receivers, moves the back around, etc.

Now, if he didn't do that would he get creamed because a teammate blew his new assignment? I don't know.

I believe Romo wants to make sure everybody is on the right page when sometimes he needs to just get up there and catch the defense while it's playing those games. Other times, I don't think it really matters that he runs the clock down. (And I do think the team has done a better job overall this year of varying when it snaps the ball.)

Yes, Romo is involved in the O and the playing calling now, and its never been worse. So obviously hes the best! We dont need proof or facts or anything like that. LOL.

How about this, coach killer makes them all look bad.
