Is Tony the reason play calls have seemed boring and ineffective?

Bingo. Exactly my point. They are going everywhere. Running back screens. Passes out the back field, WR screens, roll outs... If you have eyes, you see the difference in play calling. If tony changed the plays like everyone says, and dak runs the plays called as a rookie should, is tony over thinking and changing plays too often? I think its a very big possibility.

You do understand roll outs are to help inexperienced QB's right. They don't open up the offense, they actually limit it. Are you really saying that Romo did not throw WR screens. Screen passes eh - maybe 1 more a game.

I've noticed the play calls have been much more dynamic and exciting. Garrett is really mixing it up and keeping defenses off balance. But maybe the play calling hasn't actually changed.

Since Tony changes Garrett's plays and Dak runs the plays called, anyone beginning to think Tony should be sticking to the plays called more often?
As a long time head HS football coach in Texas, I have had the chance to talk football with many coaches. Several years ago I spoke with Wade and Garrett at a pull out session in San Angelo. JG was the OC at the time, I asked him how much input he allowed Romo to have with his play calling. He said, none. It was his job to call plays and Tony's job to run the play called. I found it interesting that as soon as JG became the head coach, Romo was allowed to start changing plays at the line of scrimmage. HMMM?

LOL.....first off, why are you talking about Tony Romo? He is sitting on the bench with a broken back and hasnt played in two years. He may never play again for Dallas.

That being said its quite clear that in his 3rd year this is now fully Linehans offense. He calls the plays and runs the offense. That is why it looks NOTHING like Garretts old, boring, repetitive, take what the offense gives you slop.

And then you throw in the fact that linehan has tailored the offense to Dak's many talents. The play book has now fully been opened because Dak can do it all.

I'll go on record as saying to bring Romo back when ready. I felt that way all along but yesterday really is making me think twice about that opinion.

It's not like we've seen the best of Dak either. He will only get better and I just feel like the things he is physically capable of really make us hard to defend.

Nicely done!!!!

We were using these plays but with no consistency. We're still not really using it with much consistency.

Then 2014 happened and everything went to what you see is what you get and we got predictable out of the formations we were in.

It was all that was last year.

Then game 1 this year it was more of us just constantly trying to cram it @ 8 or 9 in the box.

Do we still run at 8 and 9 man fronts? Yes... But over the last few weeks we have been taking advantage more and more of teams cheating with numbers in the box.

It's not the play itself that we have never used it's the fact that we are using these plays off the run game to keep teams honest.

They called the rollout for McGee every other play. WE called a ton of playaction. Those pick plays were a staple in the red zone and on third down. We called smoke routes and WR screens constantly from any down.

Calling run or pass is not 'predicting.'

Perhaps more than any quarterback ever...Tony has been Mr. Excitement. Deep vertical throws down the throat of the defense, crazy school-yard plays with the creativity of a zen-master...that's excitement. Even daring plays that don't turn out...and end up as turnovers...that's excitement.

Dink and dunk isn't very exciting....but it can be effective with the maulers we have up front.

Ultimately winning is what thrills. Romo's 15-4 recent record and Dak's record so far are what fires up a Cowboy fan.

If we look back on it...most of the exciting plays on Sunday were in the running game.

What quarterback in he NFL even tries to do this? No one. Most everyone goes back and tries to fall on this. This was the magic of Tony Houdini Romo. Sadly his body just isn't up to athletic plays anymore.

Not everyone is running 4 go routes all day. The play calling has changed.
