his last year as our HC?

I'm concerned that it will have an affect on the team's play. (Yes, yet another excuse.)

But in seriousness, if the team, fans, etc. all believe this is Wade's last year of being the HC, I do wonder how hard they play.

Yes, I do think that will be a problem. The team was lack when he was not a lame duck coach, I would hate to see how this team reacts to Wade, when they know he is gone after this year. We will all find out in about 6 months.

We played that game last year.
At the time, it was inconceivable to us that without a Super Bowl appearance Wade would survive. Well, it turned out we didn't even make the freaking playoffs.

And the Clown Wade Phillips is still here.
And jerra is insane on this point.

Maybe when the senility makes it impossible for Jerra to operate as owner, Stephen will step in and stop this madness.
I cannot even guess what jerra will do if the Cowboys fail to make the playoffs again (and they won't with Wade as HC) but with jerra it is a wild guess.

This is a good post.

This is going to create more drama than having TO on the team.

Just think... last year that reporter told him "I would have the team in the playoffs already" or something to that effect. No respect.

My analogy for the media
- last year they took jabs with boxing gloves and threw in an occasional 1-2 punch
- this year they full contact MMA on Wade and company

The players are surprised him and Red are still here. Lack of motivation and accountability will be an under statement.

I agree.

I think Wade's apparent lame-duck status will have a negative effect, especially with this group of players.

It's something Jerry is misreading, IMO.

It puts a lot of pressure on the team to start quickly. Sure, they'll still be measured by how they do in December and in the playoffs (if they get there), but two or three early losses and the things gets very ugly, very quickly.

Actually, rather or not this is his last year is really up to him. Either this team plays as their collective talent suggest they should play or he's gone. I mean, do you honestly think Jerry Jones will drop him if we get into the play offs and beyond the 1st round?

ive seen no evidence that this is his last year....i know we all assume, but if Jerry stuck with after this past season who is to say he wont keep him yet again.....as long as this team is competitive Jerry will see no reason for change....and thats hard to argue..if we go 12-4 and lose first round again next season Wade will be staying...so i dont think he is a lame duck.......IMO

#1 it's his last year of his contract

#2 he sucks as a HC

#3 better coaches and superbowl winning coaches will be available next year

They'll be the same, average, underachieving, team this year that they were last year and that wouldn't matter whether Wade was a lame duck or not.

He's had that title slapped on him since his first day in office with Garrett here.

Do people really still think pro players can be whipped and driven to a championship?

It ain't gonna happen that way....

Who knows, Dallas may resurge and become media darlings again, its a cruel and fickle industry. Kick you when you're up and kick you when you're down.

Garrett might redeem his public image although if he's anything like Norv Turner or Ernie Zampese, his mentors, then perhaps he's best suited for a coordinators position and not head coach.

Wade is what Wade is, a good defensive coordinator and a likable man who has produced average to slightly above average football teams his entire career as a head coach, but never a Super team.

Dan Reeves would've been a great shot in the arm as he took three mediocre teams and made them competitive. Denver was blah apart from Elway in the 80s and he and Reeves went to three Super Bowls. The Giants were losers and he made them 11-5 and almost beat the defending champ Cowboys to take the division in 1993, and those 1998 Falcons went 14-2 and to the Sb with Chris Chandler behind center.

I think Wade remaining or being fired as HC will depend on how the team does. I don't see him as a lame duck I see him as a HC whose team must win.

Lame is definitely the operative word in the title describing Wade as HC.
