Isn't Being Exposed A Good Thing?

Yes, we had no answers last night for Haslett's full-blown blitzing, whether it was because of play calling, audibles, player error, whatever. And many are saying it should be a very big concern. Frankly, I consider it much more of a relief. Why? This happened in week 8 -- to my way of thinking, Haslett did us a huge favor because he exposed a major weakness, flaw, whatever you want to call it, in our ability to handle these all-out blitzes. And because he exposed that, we have time to fix it before the games really start to matter. No, what would be concerning is if we went into the playoffs (or an important late season game) and got caught with our pants down like this.

I would have liked to have been exposed and picked up a W in the process. There were plenty of opportunities to win last night. We will definitely see if this team can bounce back against a good ARI team. If they are the team they want to be they need to tidy up and get rolling again.

We will see if the coaching staff can get those issues corrected going forward. I hope they do.

Believe it or not, we've actually already done that quite a few times this season.

This reaks of "moral victory"....and while I agree that its better to happen now than later on in the season, they haven't had answers for Haslett's blitzes in YEARS.

No. Getting exposed is never a good thing. You should always be prepared for a team to blitz. You can't spin this into a positive. Just move on and go win next week.

I agree with the OP. But we gave this game away with two fumbles by Murray and Randle, and a dropped pass in the endzone by Dez.

Blitz or no blitz, had we executed those plays, in my mind, we win.

It was your typical Commanders/Cowboys game.

On to the Cards.

I get the o/p's point, but losing a divisional home game is a very costly way to learn a lesson.

I don't think we were exposed. I think they gambled against long odds and won. I hate seeing Tony take the beating, though.

I"m sure we'll see some extra all out blitzes the next few weeks, and if we can't pick it up better, we'll see more of it, but as a general rule, you can't make a living doing that to a team with our weapons in the passing game, and I don't think we're going to see as much of it down the road as people seem to be fearing today. Teams will try it out, Dez will make a monster catch, or Murray will pick up the delayed blitzed and Williams will get behind the coverage deep, and they'll go back to not trying to single up on our playmakers down the field so much.

If this team comes back and smacks Arizona in the mouth, I will happily forget this Washington game ever happened. If they have another like last night, I'll start to worry.

The concern is there already. We already have had more than one of those nights. Almost every game.

It really depends on how the coaches and by extension the team, responds to it. It could galvanize the team and serve as a reminder that no games come easy, especially within the division. Or it could lead to a meltdown. Given the way this team has responded to adversity thus far, I'm leaning towards the former happening, but, like you mentioned, at least the team has time to fix it. For a playoff berth, they only should have to win 50% more of their games, but obviously to feel better about their chances in the postseason, you would want to see them win more than that.

Exposed, possibly, or just shown what many already knew, but couldn't do it against us. A lot to work on.
I seen more of a sloppy game all the way around. We are better, but to prove it, they must bounce back. Win the next 3.

It's now what will they take from this. To show this team really turned the corner, or are about to, they need to beat Arizona.

the part we were really exposed on though is one we can't fix with scheme. Our defense relies on being fresh and playing fast. When our offense struggles, we can;t expect the defense to hold for long.

they did everything they could. a short field and first half turnovers, and the defense kept them in it in spite of those things, but at a cost of being worn out and tired, and it showed in the third and 4th quarter.

this offense has to be on for the defense to be on. Can we sustain that in the playoffs? I doubt it.

As I see it, enjoy the ride, but don't expect too much.

I think they would have been "exposed" against Arizona. I'd rather see them get the win, and postpone the exposure for another week.

This team was exposed weeks ago -- all teams have warts -- but the Skins are the first team to be able to take advantage of their opportunities while minimizing Dallas'.

I don't think the Cowboys were exposed. Since I'm on twitter alot, most folks I read always suggested that the Cowboys defense were a hodge-podge group that were playing above their talents. Skins didn't expose that. That was well known.

As for the offense, I think the offense never got in a rhythm, but it still showed signs of the consistency and efficiency I've grown accustomed to seeing since the beginning of the season. Unfortunately, they also showed some of the same errors that I also remember seeing in the 49ers game.

With proper execution, we would have won despite the blitzing. Fumbles, dropped passes, missed throws/reads, poor tackling all cost us points.

If the players had their A game it still would have been tough but we would have won
