As much as it pains me to say it as a spurs fan but lebron will never be considered better than Kobe. And yes I found it necessary to start a thread about it because I had been defending lebron all this time and what he did was shameful.

Now if Timmy can get a title we can still have that conversation between Tim and Kobe.

Ps I will be cheering for the lakers or any other team playing the heat, I know dislike the heat more than any other team!

The press conference may have been a bit over the top, but him leaving Cleveland is not shameful. The Cavaliers' owner ... now that's shameful.

Lebron took less money to play for a championship.

How exactly is that shameful?

I think he would have had a better shot at a Championship if he had went to Chicago. They would have been completely stacked compared to Miami.

He'll never be considered better than Kobe because he changed teams? *smh*

JA Adande said it yesterday how he finds it interesting how people forget Kobe did the EXACT SAME THING (without the special) as Lebron before ultimately staying with the Lakers. He had everybody fly out to L.A. for all sorts of pomp and circumstance...even teams like the Knicks who you knew at the time had no shot at getting him.

Boy folks are killing me with all this hate on Lebron.

And realistically, I don't see Lebron changing teams any different than when Shaq left Orlando to go to L.A. People will forget all about this angst when the games start being played.

So far I don't consider him better than Kobe, but it's not because he left the Cavs. It's because he doesn't have the drive to win like Kobe. Hell, he doesn't have the drive that DWade has.

That is the main point right there, it's not about him changing teams. He lacks that killer drive that the other greats have.

And Lebron will save a lot of money with no income tax in Fl, so him taking a paycut to play in Miami isn't as big a deal as it may seem.

But that's a legit opinion because it's regarding his play. If it's cuz he left his original team, well that's just dumb logic, IMO.

And have to live in the shadow of MJ? I don't blame him not wanting to go there.

When Shaq was heading up to free agency, everyone knew he was gone - and was gone to LA.

Then... he went to LA.

There was no real surprise.

The point is sometimes superstars change teams. The manner in which Lebron announced it might be in question, but the fact that his leaving was a possibility wasn't.

No. He will never be considered better than Kobe simply because he ISN'T!

I never thought he would go there. He could have won three championships there and people would still say MJ won twice as many.

It's the way that he did it. Having an hourlong special and then waiting a half hour into before making the announcement. Also LeBron has anointed himself as the Chosen One, King all that nonsense and he hasn't backed it up yet. If you are all of these things then you don't have to join forces with other players to try to get yourself a ring. That's why people hate on Lebron. When Shaq left for LA I believe he announced during the Olympics in 96. No big staged event. Kobe did do the same thing but he also had 3 rings when he did it too and he ultimately stayed with LA and trusted the front office to get something done. Kobe also wasn't playing on teams that won 61 and 66 games and number 1 seeds going into the playoffs either. Those LA teams were barely making the playoffs so he had more than enough reason to want a trade. LeBron will never be in the MJ category after this move.

has it ever occured to any of you all that maybe LeBron didn't want to have a big crazy specticle made of where he was going to sign? it's an extremely huge probability that his sponsers wanted him to do it like this... "Chosen One", "King James", do you really think LeBron thought of all that? NO!! it's a sponser's marketing gimmick.

as for the move, I think it's great for Miami and speaks volumes about Cleveland's front office. the only help the Cavs got for Lebron was Shaq. since LeBron had been with the Cavs, he had to basically do it all himself.

regardless, none of this matters. any decision LeBron made would have been considered a poor decision by a lot of people anyway, even if he would've stayed in Cleveland.

I gather that there was a lot of hype about this?

:D

About what??

Who exactly is this "LeBron" we're talking about here?? With all the threads about him, I assume he must be someone important to the game... he probably has all kinds of NBA championship rings, right??

Yeah, right... never mind that the guy has repeatedly said that his goal is to be a billionaire...
