how does that work? LeBron's team approaches ESPN for the show and it's automatically LeBron's idea?

that's like saying a bunch of my friends all go asking the same girl if she thinks I'm cute simply because they want to know. and somehow that's my fault?

It was said on ESPNRadio that ESPN approached Maverick Carter at the Cavs @ Lakers game LAST season and talked about the idea and Carter said that it would be good, but that LeBron would want charity involved.

After this, it was reported again the day prior that despite all of the rumors that it was being held in a NYC suburb because LeBron was leaning toward the Knicks, that the location and production of the entire spectacle except for whatever decision would come out of LeBron's mouth was controlled by ESPN. ESPN honored LeBron's camp's request for Jim Gray to conduct the interview, and then paid for his hotel and his plane tickets to get to Greenwich.

If anyone has any other questions about it please let me know I'd be happy to put down any more nonsense.

so basically, you've just proven that it wasn't LeBron's idea. ESPN coming to Maverick Carter and LeBron going with the idea DOES NOT EQUAL LeBron coming up with the idea and going to ESPN with it.

good call, sport

Saying LeBron quit during the Boston series is a joke. The Celtics defense just took it to the scrubs on the Cavs. Jamison was a non factor the whole series, West had a few good quarters here and there and Shaq played like the washed up guy he is. The truth is the Cavs had one player and there is no way one great player can carry a team to a championship by himself. Kobe gets all the credit but if it wasnt for Fisher stepping up huge in game 3 and Bynum and Gasol, the Kobe and his Lakers would of lost just like LeBron did. Unfortunately for Boston,♠♠ Kobe's surrounding cast consists of legit players.

Lebron was smart enough to recognize that the way the Cavs are currently built he had no shot in hell of winning a title, so he took LESS money to win.

I also think ESPN is more to blame for the hype and circus the decision turned into then anyone. LeBron did the show but mostly because it raised over $500,000 for charity, it was pretty obvious he felt uncomfortable with it. ESPN saw the interest and pimped it out, and quite honestly it was pretty brilliant by them as idiots like me sat and actually watched it.

Absolute bull****. The dude quit plain and simple. Anyone with half a brain could see that. I keep hearing it's all about business, well then, his business sucked, because he was getting top dollar to perform REGARDLESS the situation any of you can conjur up.

You guys keep worshiping this guy for taking less money to win. Hilarious. Why didn't he take less money before in Cleveland to win, clear some cap so other players could be brought in? Because it was all about him that's why.

So the Cavs weren't as good as the Lakers...that makes them a bad team. Guess that makes EVERYONE a bad team the last couple years. Several of those Cavs were brought in at LeBron's request. So I guess not only is he a quitter, he's a lousy talent evaluator, and he's a lousy leader.

That's pretty much what all your posts on this subject have turned into.

Interestingly enough, the two seasons ago the Cavs lost to the Magic... a team who's #2 and #3 options were Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu, the point guard was Skip to My Lou.

It's understandable that James wants to go play with another superstar in Wade... and noone should have a problem with that.

However, James should stop being compared to Jordan... or really be put on the same level as Kobe. Instead a more apt comparision for James should be the #2 guys.. like James Worthy and Scottie Pippen.

Now James doesn't have to be repsonsible for end games heroics, as he seems to have that desire to be the 2nd option.

I'm actually pretty interested in how this will be perceived in, say, ten years. I like LeBron and always thought he got a bum rap in Cleveland, but, having said that, I think history will always view the Heat as D-Wade's team. Kind of an A-Rod and Jeter scenario.

if you really think LeBron James is a #2 guy, you're a pretty huge idiot. in fact, if you think this, you should just stop posting 'cause you have absolutely no clue about what you're talking about.

No. He will never be considered better than Kobe simply because he ISN'T!

all the who is the best ever crap kills me. Who really gives a **** anyway? All that matters is who wins. Right now the Lakers are the best and whoever wins next season will be the best. It is a team game and all this "MJ would never do this" crap is just stupid and pointless.

Le***** quit on the Cavs so that he could carry on his plan that him Bosh and Wade had in 2008.

Dude the Cavs were terrible. Anderson Varejao, Mo Williams, and Delonte West was the best Dan Gilbert could manage in 7 years. I don't blame LeBron for running.

But I think he should've just said he's leaving, not doing the "let me upstage the two guys I'm signing with" thing.
