The NFL is set to have two games on Christmas Day this year which is strange given that Christmas falls on a Wednesday in 2024.

It remains unclear at the time of this writing which broadcast partner will wind up with the rights to broadcast the league’s Christmas Day games, but current reports suggest that it could wind up being Netflix.

Presuming that Netflix does wind up with the Christmas Day games it is safe to assume that they are going to want their money’s worth because it will likely be a large investment.

According to Puck report, the reason that the NFL schedule has taken a bit longer to be released this year has been the closing of the deal between the league and the would-be home of the Christmas Day games.
Netflix will be the “likely winner” of media rights to the pair of NFL games scheduled for Dec. 25 for the upcoming football season, Puck’s John Ourand reported, citing anonymous sources. The report added the caveat that no deal has been signed yet and Netflix and the NFL “still have to clear some hurdles before any deal is announced.”
...
Per the Puck report, the NFL delayed the release of its 2024-25 schedule until May 15, and one of the main reasons is that the league has been “in the middle of a high-stakes negotiation with Netflix over its planned Christmas Day games.”
In the spirit of throwing things out for discussion - it would make a lot of sense for someone who is paying a lot of money for a Christmas Day game to want the best possible results which would mean it would make sense to involve the Cowboys.

Not so strange after what happened last year. That Christmas day game ratings blew the NBA out of the water and proved once again that football is king.

It wasn't hard to figure that we will see Christmas day games every year from now on. Just like the Thanksgiving night games aren't ever going away. NFL = big ratings = more TV revenue.

The local rumors it’s going to be Dallas in one of the games as they bring higher ratings which a bounty price of 100 million by Netflix would be more attractive with highest rated broadcast team.

Currently there’s no links to support the rumors. But the local media is a buzz about it.

That's two short weeks this team would have to play in less than a month. I would think you'd almost have to have the Cowboys bye week somewhere between Thanksgiving and Xmas if this is true.

What about rest days between the game before and the Christmas Day game?

The four teams who are chosen to play on Christmas Day will also be guaranteed to play the previous Saturday. That would give three days between games, which is the same amount of time that is between a typical Sunday game and a Thursday game when teams are involved in that game.

Are the Cleveland Browns really an option to play on Christmas Day, 2024?

Yes, they really are an option, and not just because they're one of the NFL's 32 teams. There has been at least a lot of chatter about the Browns potentially being one of the four teams to land on Christmas Day since it became known in March. However, the last week or so, there's been some prominent projections stating they were going to be included in the doubleheader.

NFL Network's Peter Schrager projected on Instagram last week that the Browns would play at the Cincinnati Bengals in the first game of the doubleheader. The other game would be an NFC divisional playoff game rematch between the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers.
