It is still just one game

I don't think the win itself is what has fans excited. It's how they did it on offense. I've never seen so many pre snap moves prior to the snap of the ball and you could see how that was confusing NY. We also hit the middle of the field and deep often. This approach was alot better than the usual quick out plays we would constantly run that was predictable.

kellen moore seemed to have complete autonomy over the play calling. garrett was never within 10 feet of him. as it should be. and the players execution on offense was outstanding. I questioned the defensive plan to just rush with 4 lineman when eli is one of the easiest qb's to rattle, but it worked. just gave up a lot of yards. but not points. we should only get better in subsequent weeks.

The HotBoyz were ColdFish and I expect Marinelli and Richard to make sure they know it this week.

However, they only feared two players on that offense, Barkley and Ingram, so playing containment instead of attack made sense, especially when they saw how easily Barkley made that run and the size of those holes. I could have drug a dead whale behind a dump truck through that hole on his 59 yarder.

With a back like Barkley or Gurley, the job of the DL is to keep the OL off the LB's more than making plays behind the line or getting sacks. They played Barkley, especially after that run, like D's used to play Barry Sanders.

That was an unusual offense they faced yesterday, kind of like how ours has been in the past with the major threat being the RB.

I found it surprising the giants quit relying on saquon after the first series. but i'm glad they did.

Look at week one last season:

Cobb > Beas
Gallup's first game
No Coop
Antiquated OC

This offense is starting from a much better place than it did last year.

Absolutely and their D is not at full strength yet. The major difference I saw was the OC was trying to win the game, not not lose it.

He's never played in an offense that plays not to lose. That wasn't the way he played or was coached in college. The object, from his viewpoint, is to score points not control the clock and protect the defense.

Good insight. Bend but don't break.

This is what I said in another thread

All of us are cowboys fans and are happy when the team wins esp after a dominant performance like yesterday over a division foe

Yes Dak had a great game and I’m happy about that

The offense was clicking and looked great

As I’ve said before the season, to me this offense will be defined by what happens in November and December and playoffs for 2 reasons

1. The team is stacked so they will get you wins against weaker opponents (esp in our first 4 weeks) just by talent

2. Moore is an unknown so his tricks will work early until DCs can adjust

The real facts will come out late in the year when good teams are making a playoff push and teams have some film on Moore and our offense and they adjust

Hopefully we will continue to enjoy success
I'm most interested to see if he can make in game adjustments once there is a few weeks of tape on him. Some DC is gonna throw a wrench into the machine real soon and I hope (unlike the previous OC's) he can adjust in game. That will be a big milestone. You can be sure Belieck in week 12 will be waiting.

we're gonna really be scratching our heads if the Bills sack Eli 8 times next week

I don't usually like that kind of D but that's what DC's have used against the Cowboys when they were running the offense through the RB and Elliott is not a "make the first guy miss" back like Barkley is.

Funny, they give the RB the biggest RB contract in NFL history and the QB has his best passing game in his career.

That's the same headline I would have used if this had been reversed yesterday. It's best not to get too carried away with one game because that was a bad Giants team with a house cleaning in the near future.

The only thing that was not as bad as anticipated was their OL and they did a number on the Cowboys DL, they will have to do better than that.

I was most surprised by the Cowboys lack of rust on their offense, they came out firing and that was a real treat to see a real passing game for a change. Prescott was right, he was ready to play some football. And Moore had a terrific debut and was weapon conscious the entire game.

There were only a few teams really ready to play as most of the play was sloppy but we're already off to a surprising start with CLE not looking ready for the big time and their QB acting like a little boy in the post game. And some injuries are going to have an effect even this early in the season.

And while it is only one game, it was exactly what Kellen the Young needed to establish to send a message to future DC's. They have to defend all of the weapons, not just the RB or the WR1. Gallup looks ready to erase that soph slump theory, he's a real pleasure to watch grow.

From the irony department, this time last season we were all concerned about the WR's, or lack thereof, and this team has weapons aplenty and while Prescott was off the mark on a couple of those throws, his receivers did their job in playing the ball and that one pass that looked behind the WR was actually protecting him from a DB coming across. What looked like a poor throw was actually a great throw and appreciated by his WR.

And while it is still one game, it was the one game the QB needed and the idea of waiting this season out for the contract is gone. There were a lot, a lot, of receivers on the other end of those passes wanting him to get paid as well.

Finally, it still is just one game but 1-0 and in the division. I'll take it.
Coach I’m going out on a limb here but....I’m betting there will be suicide watch circles around here when this team loses a game at some point this year, lol. If you follow the game day threads (as good as any comedy club out there) a three and out is cause for absolute panic, mass firings and trades. It’s comical fo show.

Yes, this was 1/16th of the season so the overreaction is understandable. One thing that was overlooked because our offense was so sharp yesterday was the defense looking pretty sloppy at times. Winning covers a multitude of sins. But it was the first time all starters played together so I’m sure they will improve.

After all that offseason I'm enjoying this. Worry about those teams when we play them.

Bullet, I have felt many were too in love with this defense and it really didn't change that much from last season and Marinelli and Richard have a lot of film to review with players that maybe thought they were better also?

One thing that was on full display with almost every game and piece of game I saw, sloppy tackling and poor positioning to make the tackle, I hope that improves for all teams as that has always been one of my favorite parts of the game. I like a well executed textbook tackle as well as any play in the game.
