It Was Fun While It Lasted

What was fun while it lasted??

The whole paper champion thing?

Please, go root for someone else.

Honestly fellas, when I look at this team with non-biased eyes, I'm not liking what I'm seeing...

QB - We're good, Romo is a top-five QB (I don't care what anyone says) and we have one of the better backups in the league
WR - happy with starters, but ZERO depth now
RBs - Not bad, not great. Decent depth with the rook.
O-Line - What's to be excited about? We were pretty bad last year, horrific in the run game, and we simply retained some of our guys. Tyron Smith? This guy looks like a bust to me. At any rate, he's a rook.

D-Line - We just lost Bowen. We are weaker than we were last year...and we sucked last year
Linebackers -- How Brooking still has a job on this team, I have no idea. Speaks to how little we have behind him moreso than his actual effectiveness, he is OLD and is showing every bit of it. D-Ware, Spencer, fine.
D-Backs -- Lost cause, one of the worst units in the NFL as it currently stands. Newman and Jenkins can't cover, our safeties can't cover nor can they support the run. But other than that, they're fine.

Special Teams -- Our kicker blows. He can kick them into the endzone on kickoffs, but does anyone really have any faith in this guy when it comes to a pressure kick?

Should be a great 2011!

I will give you the safeties, right now we are pretty weak, but don't forget about FA and Ryan's new scheme. He may have not gotten to coach them during the lockout, but I bet you he saw all the defensive snaps last year and he already knows what he is going to try to institute back there. Same goes with our CB's.

All winning teams start with the QB, so we have a leg up on most teams there. We have Free, Kosier, Gurode (when he gets off PUP) ? at RG and Tyron Smith. Give the kid a break, he hasn't even played a down yet and you call him a bust. We have 3 of the 5 back and realistically the weakest part of our OL Davis and Colombo are going to be replaced.

Brooking is still here because he is a vet and if managed well can play meaningful downs, Lee is going to be a year wiser and hopefully adapted to playing an NFL year. Carter well was always going to be like Lee last year, drafted to take over and but not start on day one.

No team has All Pro back ups. Whenever your starter goes down, it will always be a downgrade. So here is to hoping that Dez stays healthy all year. Also Miles.

lol, this guy said it was fun while it lasted... yet last season was one of the most miserable years that team has ever put me through as a fan. When was it fun again??

Are you going to stick out that bottom lip and cry for daddy?

Was that smack talk or West Virginia style flirting? :laugh2:

This is the same guy who last year wanted to fire Garrett and lose on purpose to get the number one pick.

All I read is how he is instrumental in making huge holes for the USC running back to cut back into.

We are still barely removed from being a dangerous team, that was better than the SB winning saints.

We have some of the most important parts of a competitive team. A more then viable QB, a few top pass catchers, and a LB who is a perennial sack artist.

Also, there could be something to say about our new coaching staff...

1. Watch the vid, watch it. Pushing a slanting d-lineman in the same direction he was already going isn't hard, it certainly shouldn't be on a highlight reel. He looks like he plays way too upright, a guy like Orakpo is going to *****' bullrush and maul this guy.

2. Actually, we are barely removed from being a six-win team. Did we play better in the second half? Absolutely, but you are what your record says.

3. Yes, I'm very happy with Dez and Miles. But what else? Witten is really starting to look old to me, fellas. He hasn't dropped off the cliff like MBIII did, but I'm starting to see some really disturbing signs.

4. I'm very excited about this coaching staff. It is the one thing that gives me a glimmer of hope. I think Garrett is going to be a hell of a head coach, but talent wins in this league and we're just really, really average.

That's just a lie. I've always been a fan of Garrett's and I've never been in support of losing on purpose. Winning is a way of life (as Garrett often says). You practice that way, you play that way. Losing on purpose is utterly ********.

Not even one practice, and labeled a bust.

A new record for the cowboyszone?

I guess we should all pretend this is a championship caliber team, join in the collective avoidance of the past + decade of mediocrity our GM has given us and blindly cheer now !!!

True, we don't know with certainty how decent the team will be, but with a rookie HC, holes on the o-line/d-line, safety, and one of the worst GM's in the league, I'm not expecting much.

Nope, I go by what I see. While I realize those vids they have next to each first-rounders names are very limited, I just don't like what I see from this guy. Hell, half of his "highlights" are him, pushing a stunting lineman in the same direction he was already going, while the USC running back cuts back into a huge hole. Great.

I guess the Cowboys should have not bothered scouting T and and wasting all that time when they could have clicked the video next to his name and got all the information needed like you did. Maybe with that $ saved we could have gotten a big name FA. Kudos man!

Well, no one knows ******** more than you do.

Zero separation. He has always used his body well to shield defenders but those defenders have been getting closer and closer the last two years and Romo's window is getting tighter and tighter. You have to darn near throw it in a window the size of a mailbox opening now for Witten to come up with it.

On what plays specifically?

I know we are all die hard fans here and we like to think we know what is best for the team but the Pokes have some smart and talented people that are continuously evaluating our needs and players performances. Let them do their jobs and hope that things turn out for the best.

I still think this team has some ability and now with better coaching may be able to take the next step.

I also feel that this team has a chip on their shoulder after last year. Couple that with Garrett being able to run a training camp and having Ryan get the D squared away and we will be competitive.

There are still a ton of guys out there they could help us with possibly more on the way after the upcoming roster cuts.

Sit back and enjoy the show and think about how lucky we are to even be talking about legitimate football issues right now.
