This team is as bad as that 1-15 team. Only thing is that team had hope. Not sure this team has any.

The 1-15 team was at the beginning of a new era. You could see the changes taking place and even in that year there was a sense that the team would get better. I have no sense of that right now. There is no clear or effective leadership on the field or on the sideline.

Didn't Jimmy Johnson say he tanked on purpose to build the roster? The high draft picks lead to Aikman and Emmitt.

I don't think he said that. But he knew how it was going to go. But he gutted the team for the most part from day one. The only player left with any talent other than the draft picks was Walker. We know how that turned out.
I mean there were some decent players as it turned out. But not tradable talent at that time.

He knew they were going to be bad, but not 1-15 bad.

The 1989 team did not have hope. Stop with this crap. EVERYONE questions Jimmy and Jerry and their first season. It was a complete crap show. The "hope" started the next year after Jerry and Jimmy showed they were not just going to sit there and not make changes. And then Jimmy proving he can win games and team was moving in the right direction.

1989 there was no hope.

I remember that 1-15 team....and frankly, this current team seems worse!! At least the 1989 team played hard, and we knew at some point, things would all come together. This 2020 team...I just don't know anymore.
This. I was thinking the same thing last night. Ground Hog day with no end in sight until the old coot and son hand over the reigns. Prob after my lifetime.

i do not know i think this team reminds me of 1988 cowboys landrys last year. we have a few talented players mixed with a players who have no business even still playing in the nfl. the 89 team was total rebuild of young players. this team has talent on it and are completely underperforming just like landrys last year.

Completely different reality today. CAP and Free Agency...

Jerry has completely failed in the modern NFL.

With his numerous bad contracts and propensity to allow key, high draft picks on defense leave the team (i.e. B Jones) - let's just say this isn't 1989 again...
